Curious what culinary findings are around? Vierhouten (15 minutes’ drive) is known as the top culinary spot in the Veluwe, and every October, it hosts the Wild Days, an event specialising in wild meat. The Hanseatic era is in focus in the city of Harderwijk (20 minutes). It’s one of a number of Hanseatic towns in Gelderland and the Veluwe, but especially exciting is its Burgundian culinary scene, shops and dolphinarium (that’s likely to be a hit with the kids). Elburg (15 minutes) is another Hanseatic town and properly scenic. The centre has cobbled streets, there’s a gorgeous harbour and the 1592 Vischpoort gate leads the way into the urban centre.
