Ciriga Sicily Glamping

Make the most of island stays by spending as much time as possible exploring the fab beaches of Sicily. Ciriga beach is a five-minute drive from the site, and the towns of Pozzallo and Marzamemi – both within 20 minutes – each have their own sandy stretches for lengthy explores. If the seaside ceases to fascinate, turn to the urban: the city of Ispica is 15 minutes from base, and is a must-visit for its historic cave houses and burial sites, its archaeological park, its palace and its truly stunning buildings. City wanders can be continued about half an hour away in the UNESCO world heritage city of Noto – with palaces and cathedrals to poke around, and Vespa tours to sign up for – and in Syracuse (50 minutes) where there’s a scenic Old Town, a winery and, of course, shopping. For quieter urban days, return to Pozzallo and Marzamemi – the towns are particularly pretty spots, with palaces and a fortified tower in the first, and a coastal reserve in the second – or opt instead for a day in nature. Vendicari Nature Reserve is 20 minutes from the site, and is a prime destination for snorkelling, hiking and birdwatching, among lots else.
