La Bolla del Borgo

The walled town of Corinaldo (five minutes’ drive) is accessed via the long Piaggia staircase. Take a break halfway up to check out the Pozzo della Polenta well – and to look behind you, as the landscape comes into view in between the rooftops. The Santuario di Santa Maria Goretti houses a relic of the Corinaldo-born saint. Its sandy beach and gentle surf make Senigallia a popular destination for families, and the Rotonda a Mare is a top spot for a selfie. There’s also plenty for foodies in town, with a couple of Michelin-starred restaurants and no shortage of gelaterias. The imposing 15th-century Rocca Roveresca fortress houses exhibitions.
