Parking up for a night or two at a family-run Lombardy winery sounds like a lovely idea, doesn’t it? Perhaps with a glass of wine while you look out over the vineyards as the sun goes down…
That’s exactly what’s on offer at Azienda Agricola Ferrari Dario e Alberto, just outside the little village of Pietra de' Giorgi. Pitches here are in a meadow area that looks out over the winery’s vineyards, with mountains forming the distant backdrop. It’s a gorgeous little spot for a picnic accompanied by a glass of wine produced on site.
Which wine to choose? All will surely become clear if you book in for a tasting of the organic wines the Ferrari family produce at the farm, paired with local foods (drop them a line in advance to book your spot). You can also simply pick your wine in the shop if you prefer. There are a couple of other wineries close by and several places to eat in nearby villages and towns so a gourmet tour can certainly be on the cards here.
This site is designed for short stopovers (usually one or two nights) rather than longer stays, as it’s got just simple facilities like the toilets in the farmyard.

喜欢 Wat een geweldige plek en geweldige familie Ferrari.
Wij hebben enorm genoten van deze mooie omgeving. Deelgenomen aan een zeer goed verzorgde wijnproeverij. Heerlijke wijnen en daarbij passende anti pasta.
Heel gastvrije mensen met een mooi verhaal over hun druiven en hun wijnen.

If you’d really like to immerse yourself in all things wine-related, you’ve come to the right place. There are numerous wineries dotted around these landscapes, perhaps best visited on a cycle tour through the vineyards and stopping in for the odd tasting.
Mix it up with a dip into the area’s history via visits to places like Civico Museo Archeologico di Casteggio e dell'Oltrepò Pavese (20 minutes’ drive) and gorgeous buildings like Castello Dal Verme di Zavattarello (35 minutes). You may also like to take a stroll around the pretty town of Voghera (half an hour) or spend the day in Milan (an hour and 10 minutes), taking in major sights like the Duomo and Pinacoteca di Brera.
Back in the countryside, there are adrenaline activities at Parco Avventura Salice-Terme and western-themed rides and shows at Cowboyland (35 minutes). The area is also dotted with several exhibits from the Big Bench community art project – check out numbers 149 - Calvignano (20 minutes) and 163 - Casteggio (25 minutes) for a start.
