Situated in the heart of the Beaujolais Vert winemaking area, Camping Le Lac des Sapins is likely to prove an irresistible magnet for oenophiles, who can spend their days driving around the Rhône region looking for wineries and tasting rooms – of which there are numerous within a half-hour drive. Watersports enthusiasts should also consider a holiday here, since this family-friendly spot is located on the banks of the Lac des Sapins, with its vast natural swimming pool that can accommodate a whopping 2,500 bathers. In addition to its swimming basins (there’s also a paddling pool for kids), this large reservoir has a sandy beach with views across the water to forested hills, a play area and several outfits hiring out paddleboards and pedal boats. If you prefer to admire the lake from up high, the surrounding hills are laced with shaded trails (some with open-air gym equipment, in case your hike isn’t hard enough to get your heart rate going), and a zipline park with treetop courses is popular with children. Back at the site, you can round out the day with a game of tennis while the kids hit the playground, before freshening up for the evening in the large toilet/shower block. For dinner, head to one of the lakeside restaurants (five minutes’ drive) or to the nearby village of Cublize (10 minutes’ walk) where a couple of bakeries and convenience stores sell all you need for a picnic. Dogs are welcome at the site, and although they are not allowed on the beach and in the lake, they can accompany you on your walking exploration of the area.

喜欢 Les jeunes employés sont sympathiques, pas comme le patron

不喜欢 Patron, très arrogant n’est pas capable de gérer son camping.
Sur le site on vous propose un emplacement. Restant. Bien sûr le plus cher, quand on arrive tous les emplacements pas chers sont vides.
Il fait une soirée concert à 19h30, il n’y a plus rien à manger et ne veut pas proposer de repas habituel comme les pizzas car c’est une journée concert.
Quatre saucisses et quatre frites qui se battent en duel, des gens qui payent, et quand on arrive plus rien à manger.

喜欢 Campsite seemed fairly good. The staff on site were courteous.

不喜欢 The lake was closed to swimmers, etc the swimming pool was closed completely and all other attractions including restaurants nearby were closed. There was one cafe on site that was open but tables and chairs were stacked up and it was very dirty. We specifically booked to go there to use the water to swim and paddle board. Sadly these all shut down on 31st August and we arrived on 1st September. The website is misleading as it does not say about any closures however they do use these facilities as a big selling point. They really should add the closure dates. Very misleading I would say. It was so quiet we left after one night but when we raised the issues with the staff, their response was hard luck so no reimbursement was offered, although I did ask. Not a great response.

喜欢 Restaurant at end of the lake was amazing, great run around lake. Didn’t use swimming area but that looked lovely. Campsite was very clean, quiet, pitches nice and large. Facilities clean and staff very helpful.

不喜欢 A little expensive, we stayed in aires with similar facilities that were half the price.

喜欢 Spacious pitches surrounded by hedges. Clean loos/showers.
Lots of activities for children and a lovely bio pool. However it was useless for us as we have a dog. However we swam in the lake which was great although there were warning signs against swimming there as the bottom of the lake was unstable but that's typical of lakes!

不喜欢 No hot water for washing up and luke warm for showers.
Wifi was intermittent but it was high season and we had a pitch a fair distance from the reception.

Stretching on the banks of the Saône river, Villefranche-sur-Saône (55 minutes) is known for the Gothic architecture of the Église Notre-Dame des Marais and the collection of regional art at the Musée Paul-Dini. Happy City is a vast indoor amusement park with trampolines, adventure courses and a climbing wall. Residents at Touroparc Zoo (55 minutes) include red pandas, giraffes and big cats, plus pink flamingos and other birds. In addition to an amusement park with a vintage carousel and a monorail, there’s an aquapark with huge waterslides. The site also runs a popular tree-climbing course for children.
