Not un, not deux but a full trois swimming pools await at the fab family site of Camping Le Ragis in the Vendée department… and what a lot else goes on here too.
Run by friendly Thérèse and Joseph, Le Ragis is a smashingly equipped site deep in Vendée countryside, within 20 minutes' drive of the mighty Atlantic Ocean at Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, and with enough to do on site to ensure you'll never hear the dreaded phrase 'Je suis bored'…
Par exemple? The three main pools come with waterslides as well as two paddling pools for tiddlers; there's a fishing pond for contemplative hours and a miniature farm for cuddlesome ones, and a multisports area for football, volleyball and basketball, table tennis, miniature golf and pétanque should keep all ages in nicely contemplative mode throughout their hol.
Also on site (oui, there's yet more) are not un, not deux but trois play areas for the small sorts, as well as trampolines, a teeny train, and a kids' club on high season weekdays for ages four to 10. Off site – if you manage it – beaches and the most excellent island of Noirmoutier are within 20 and 30 minutes and the utterly magnifique Puy du Fou is an hour and 20 minutes from the site.
Camping Le Ragis is on a traditional Vendée farm, five minutes' drive from Challan. Other services (oui, there's yet more) include wifi access, farm produce, and a July and August snack bar. Bread and pastries are delivered daily in high season; just let the team know what you want the day before.

To the beach? To the beach. Camping Le Ragis is niftily set for reaching the seaside resorts of the Vendée, with Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, Saint Gilles Croix de Vie and Saint-Jean-de-Monts all about minutes' drive away.
Have a day in each if you can manage it: Saint-Hilaire for the L'ile-aux-Jeux amusement park and Atlantic Toboggan waterpark, Saint Gilles for watersports and handsome harbour restaurants, and Saint-Jean for eight kilometres of beach as well as guided tours among the sand dunes.
Old villages, old piles and ancient monuments are close by too if that's your historical bent: try the Rairé mill (15 minutes), still in service in these modern times or the ruins of Château de Commequiers or Château d'Apremont, 10 and 20 minutes away.
Another top option for old-school Vendée is the craft village of Sallertaine (10 minutes), to buy local food produce, jewellery, arts and crafts, and to rise to the challenge of French baking at the town's bread making museum.
Sallertaine's also a startoff point for canoe trips among the famed Vendée salt marshes: hire a craft at the canoe centre there or set off on a guided trip.
