Camping de L'Hippodrome

喜欢 2nd year staying here, and just as decent 2nd time round. Good stop over on the way South or back North to Calais. We stayed 2 days this time and visited the local town, only a short walk/cycle away. Pool very clean, just a bit cold over a long period for little kids, my 4 year old struggled.
Electric on every pitch, but make sure you fill up with water in a camper before you enter using the motorhome service point outside (small charge for this).
Facilities great and clean.

不喜欢 It would be nice if the water at the motorhome service point was included if you are staying on site, but it's a very minor dislike!

喜欢 Everything. The staff are very friendly and work very hard. You get to choose your own pitch. We liked pitch 13 which was a big space for our family and our large tent. While we were staying, there were a mixture of tents, caravans and camper vans and there are some chalets on-site. The site is clean. The wifi is good. The facilities (two blocks of toilets/showers with washing up sinks) are cleaned regularly. The swimming pool area is really good and we loved using the pool and buying an ice cream at the Hippo bar. You get to order pastries and bread for the next day. There’s even some animals on the site (goats, sheep and chickens). And you can use the TV room which has a communal fridge and freezer. The site is in a quiet location near the river Sarthe and the hippodrome/sports facilities (which occasionally hosts horse racing - once during the two weeks we were there). Sablé is a 15 minute walk from the campsite along the river. It’s a small quiet town with a few restaurants and shops. There are big supermarkets nearby like L’Eclerc, Super U and Carrefour, easy to drive to. It’s easy to catch a train from Sablé to Paris which takes under 2 hours (we changed at Le Mans on the way there). It’s a 50 minute drive to Le Mans - worth seeing the lights in the old town in the summer (starts at 9.30pm). It’s an hour north of the Loire river. We visited the castle in Brissac. We enjoyed visiting Sainte Suzanne et Chammes, a pretty village 30 minutes north of the campsite with a fort overlooking the valley. We had a fantastic time at Camping de L’Hippodrome. A very well run site. And you even get to leave at your leisure on the final day. Definitely value for money.

喜欢 Lovely site, very clean & tidy. Huge pitches with good access. Friendly helpful staff. The site is on the river Sarthe & the walk along the racecourse brings you to the town passing the beautiful chateau. We have never done a municipal site before but will definitely do them again. Nice play area & swimming pool.

喜欢 Absolutely loved this site. You can see the pride the staff have in their campsite. The staff were super helpful and friendly, the facilities were excellent and we loved our stay here. Unfortunately we were only passing through but I'd have been happy staying here much longer.

喜欢 Largest pitch we have every stayed on. Very quiet site. Good, clean sanitary facilities. Small town with a handful of shops and restaurants.
Excellent cycling routes

Stadt selber hat nicht viel zu bieten.
Leider viele Personen in der Stadt dennen man nicht im dunklen begegnen möchte
Aber dafür kann der Platz nichts

喜欢 The space on the pitches. The quietness of the site. It was lovely and peaceful! The bar and pool area. Even though we didn’t use the pool. The closeness to the town
