Quiet lakeside location for the peaceful vibes or handy town setting for the convenience of being able to walk to a shop? No need to choose when you’re staying at Camping Ardresien – this Nord-Pas-de-Calais site is in a particularly choice position in the town of Ardres, about five minutes’ walk from the town centre, which hosts summer night markets. In the other direction, it's just a three-minute walk from Lac d’Ardres (along a direct path), a popular spot for pedal boating, renting small boats, slurping on an ice cream or watching the annual July fireworks. This family-run site is a friendly and laidback site where pets and kids are welcome and pitches are quiet and well kept. A play area and pétanque court are on site, along with picnic tables where you can serve up your meals (cooked on a barbecue if you’d like to bring one along). The highlight for many people, though, is the private fishing pond, available for guests to use during their stay. The edge-of-town location is a very handy one that puts you just a few minutes’ walk from a good variety of shops and places to eat, along with other amenities like banks and a post office. Being about 20 minutes’ drive from Calais is another bonus on the location front too, as it puts cross-channel travellers within easy reach of the ferry port (and makes this site a good choice for a first or last night). The nearby coast isn’t all about ferries, of course – you’ll also be able to get to a nice sandy beach or a coastal nature reserve. Turning the other way, there are lots of walks and other outdoor activities in the Caps et Marais d’Opales Regional Natural Park.

喜欢 Location as close to Calais, pitch was clean and well maintained.

不喜欢 Difficult to find, narrow entrance we are only 2m wide and only just fit. Showers were tokens and no toilet roll in toilets.

Sachez que j’accueille des camping car bien plus large et grand que le vôtre sans aucun souci. 😉
Le camping est indiqué avec des panneaux, et l’entrée se fait tout droit ! Pas besoin de manœuvrer !

Pour le papier toilette, comme dans beaucoup de camping, je ne met pas a disposition le papier toilette car malheureusement beaucoup reparte avec !

喜欢 Very welcoming and friendly, a good hardstanding pitch with hedges

不喜欢 No motorhome service point or place to empty waste water or the chemical toilet. There was an emptying point for the toilet on one of the other pitches but it was only for emptying not swilling out. The owner said we could dump in into the drain under the fresh water tap but we didn't want to do that. No lighting at all on site, difficult to use the sanitary facilities after dark

喜欢 Only stayed 1 night when catching early train to uk. Private gravel pitch which was great in the rainy weather ( no mud). Very clean and modern facilities. Lovely personal greeting by the owner of the site who came to find us after his mum had checked us in. Great site for catching early train to uk

喜欢 We had a lovely, friendly welcome despite the language barrier. It’s a great little stopover before catching the ferry home. The pitch was a good size and the facilities were clean. Just remember to take your own toilet paper!

For outdoor activities, climb into the trees at Adventure Course Guines (10 minutes’ drive), play a round at Golf du Bois de Ruminghem (20 minutes) or join boat tours from places like Saint-Martin-lez-Tatinghem (25 minutes). If you’ve got the kids with you, you may like to plan trips to Saint Joseph Village (10 minutes), to visit the replica traditional village with things like workshops and a waterfall, and Fééryland (15 minutes), full of colourful games and rides for youngsters. And of course there’s always the option of a seaside outing – Calais (25 minutes) is home to the City of Lace and Fashion museum and Musée Memoire as well as its ferry port and sandy beaches, and there are several other lovely spots including Cap Blanc-Nez and wildlife-filled National Nature Reserve Platier Oye (both half an hour).
