If you want a full flavour of French cuisine (oui), you'll find it here in French Flanders. The shop at Camping de la Ferme des Saules, in the grounds of a working farm in the Flanders mountains, is piled with all sorts of fruit and veg fresh from the fields for you to sample, as well as a range of tiptop produce from other local suppliers including fresh meat, pâtés, cheese, eggs, sweets and homemade Flemish waffles. Pick up some local fruit juices and beers to wash it all down and you’ve got everything you need for quite the French feast. Ferme des Saules is a family-friendly site, half a kilometre from the Belgian border and 20 minutes' drive from Ypres. Guests are welcome to wander the farm during opening hours to meet the chickens, goats and pony, or you could work your appetite up further with a pre-dinner game of pétanque while the kids bounce around the playground or trampoline. Spacious grass pitches are within easy reach of a smart modern toilet block that houses toilets, showers, a kids’ bathroom and an accessible bathroom. There’s also free wifi access around the site. Ferme des Saules is a few kilometres from Bailleul for yet more foodie options at its restaurants, bistros, bars and speciality shops: you can reach town within a five-minute drive, a 15-minute cycle or a 45-minute walk, depending on how many calories you need to work off...

喜欢 Amazing site. Well thought out. Privacy hedges around each pitch were a great idea. Everything provided, even has a kitchen which surprised us. Shower and toilet blocks are clean and well kept. Has laundry facilities too. Farm shop is well stocked with anything you could possibly need whilst camping. But be warned, if you want a baguette, get there early as they fly out! Staff all really friendly, and the golf cart tour to start is fun.

喜欢 Pitch sizes excellent. Choice of pitch and shade, open environment. Very friendly staff. Shower toilet block excellent. Facilities generally excellent. The shop was very impressive, farm shop selling most items very impressive. Will return for longer next season.

喜欢 The check-in process was very straight forward, you get shown around the site and get to choose your pitch. Staff very friendly, common kitchen for campers is a very good idea, and whilst 'well used' is great for cooking, boiling the kettle and fridge/freezer use, whilst the weather was great for my stay I can imagine this area would get a lot of use during not so good weather. The toilet and shower facilities are really good. Wifi throughout is good for planning the days routes. The campsite is in a great location for exploring the area, especially The Western Front and Flanders. Will stay again if the opportunity arises.

喜欢 I booked this campsite blind, using pitchup.
I was surprised at what I found.
This is a little gem that needs to be shared
The pitches are secluded, surrounded by hedges, they are large and well appointed.
The shower and washing block was immaculately clean and had an ample supply of hot water. The kitchen area, should you wish to use it, is well equipped and has everything you need.
The farm shop has a great range of food and drink. All produce is fresh, with much of it coming from their farm.
Electrical hook ups are cheap and easily accessible.
Bailleul is a 5 minute drive away, with a large Lidl and other stores.
I would urge you to use this site if you wish to be in easy reach of all the sites and memorials of World War 1, which was my reason for visiting.
Arras, Poperinge, Lille and Arras are all within easy reach.
All in all, a fantastic site for a one night or longer stay.

喜欢 Great location, good showers and washing facilities. Fantastic shop with everything you could need. Excellent sized pitches.

不喜欢 Very small dislike but the dish washing sinks are in the same area as the toilets/washing facilities which means some people brushed their teeth in the dish washing sinks. Maybe some clearer signs would help.

At Bailleul, start in the flower-filled Grand’Place, dominated by the 62-metre belfry tower of the town hall, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Climb to the top for spectacular views towards the mountains and to get up close to the 35-bell carillon. Around the corner from the square is the Museum of Benoit-De-Puydt, a converted private house where you can learn a bit about the town’s role during the war and visit the exhibition of Flemish art. Also worth a visit is the Country Life Museum in Steenwerck, a 15-minute drive from the site and set up to recreate a Flemish village in 1900. The major Belgian point of interest close by is Ypres, 20 minutes' drive from the site, where you can tour the battlefields, visit the war cemeteries and learn more about the area's historical significance at the In Flanders Fields Museum.
