Adore the idea of a break by the river? Then head to the banks of the Adour river and pitch up at Camping Le Saint-Roch, a family-friendly site right on the riverside and a leisurely 15-minute stroll from the village of Campan. There are aquatic activities galore to be had here, with direct access to the river for swimming, fishing and general messing about, and canoeing, sailing and other watersports available at nearby Bagnères-de-Bigorre and Lac de Payolle. Landlubbing types will find plenty to do in the surrounds too – test your pedalling power on several of the Tour de France mountain passes, perhaps, play a round of golf or take in the vistas from a 19th-century mountain observatory. Back at base, all is geared up for chilled-out family stays: no noisy parties, but plenty of space to spread out, play games and light up a barbie or campfire for an evening huddle. There’s also a playground for les enfants, and a pétanque court and games room for family contests.

If you fancy taking in sweeping views over the Pyrenees, you’ve got choices. Sign up for a paragliding trial from Campan, perhaps, or head to the resort of La Mongie, 20 minutes away by car, to take the cable car up to the top of the Pic du Midi, to visit the museum and 19th-century observatory at 2,877 metres’ altitude. Not such a fan of heights? Climb up just a few metres over at Lac de Payolle, 20 minutes away, to explore the treetop adventure course (canoeing, horse riding and fishing are also options here), or keep your feet firmly on the ground at the Pyrénées Animal Park, 45 minutes’ drive away. Hardcore mountain bike types will find plenty of challenges in the surrounding mountains: follow in the tyre tracks of the Tour de France crew on the mountain passes of Aspin, Azet and La Hourquette d’Ancizan, safe in the knowledge that aching muscles can be soothed in the spa at Bagnères-de-Bigorre, 10 minutes’ drive from the site.

喜欢 El sitio era encantador. Todo rodeado de naturaleza al lado del río un paisaje espectacular y por las noches todavía más bonito. La atención del dueño, Daniel, fue buenísima. Estuvimos muy cómodos mi hijo y yo en la tienda justo en la entrada del camping con todo al lado. Las instalaciones un poco justas pero suficientes.

不喜欢 Quizás que no hubiera luz por las noches y el camping es un poco justo de medios pero nos apañamos bien.

喜欢 Very rural and back to nature. This is a very basic site and facilities were very old (1960’s school toilet block) BUT it only cost a fraction of other sites so all was fine. If you were on a first date trying to impress someone or convince them that camping was the way forward then perhaps no. But for a quick stop over it was absolutely fine. Very relaxed owner who did not speak any English but this made the conversations interesting and the international use of sign language helped. I would stop there again. This could be a really great site with more investment put into it.

不喜欢 As above but always remember that the price is very low and the owner is not there the rip you off. There is hot water, electricity, toilets and showers.
