A stay at Camping La Perle will have you unwinding among the splendiferous cliffs and wooded hillsides of the Creuse valley, positioned for visits to the handsome UNESCO-listed village of Aubusson and its family-friendly waterpark and wellness complex, as well as promenades and pedals around the valley’s wide network of waymarked trails. As you'd expect, you'll need to pack your comfiest walking shoes to make the very most of La Perle’s spectacular setting, and you’d be well-advised to include something to keep you occupied while relaxing to the distant clanking of Limousin cow bells around its peaceful surrounds. Hiking and mountain biking routes are nearby to get your sightseeing off to a gentle start, and you can also head 20 minutes’ walk away to the banks of the Creuse river for swimming and fly fishing. Back at base, the on-site restaurant and bar (open during high season only) has a scenic terrace overlooking the playground and a heated outdoor pool (also open during high season only) with a waterslide and a separate kids' paddling pool. This means that when grownups aren’t actively policing playtime action, they can survey their offspring’s antics from a most comfortable distance while carefreely sipping on an afternoon aperitif or two.

喜欢 Very friendly welcome and hospitality at the bar/restaurant. Fantastic people. Large, terraced pitches with plenty of space for camper vans. Very clean, excellent shower / toilet facilities.

喜欢 Friendly and helpful owner. Really clean and spacious showers. Excellent above ground pool. Quiet site. Excellent restaurant with american theme and good value good food.

不喜欢 Be aware you will need french plug adapter for electrics and a rubber clamp hose adapter to fill motorhome water tank.

Keen golfers, proudly don your obligatory checked-pants-plus-snazzy-jumper combination and head over to Gouzon (half an hour’s drive) for a large 18-hole course. A short drive away from the site is the UNESCO-listed Aubusson village (10 minutes), famed for its tapestry-making heritage; spend half a day pottering around its narrow cobbled streets, gawping up at its hugely handsome historic buildings and exploring its tapestry museum. If you’re in the area on a Friday, a flea and farmers' market is in Felletin (20-minutes) for procuring local produce and precious local bargains. Should the kids not quite be of the history-appreciating age or antique-hunting persuasion, take them instead to Aubusson’s indoor pool complex to set them off whooshing down waterslides – the added bonus is that it’s got something for grownups too, as it’s cleverly been kitted out with a sauna and a hammam to get all steamily relaxed among.
