A lakeside site in Limousin, you say? With easy access to a splendid sandy beach? Simply spectacular... and simply Camping La Plage.
You can have watery hours both indoors and out at this welcoming family-friendly site: as well as the lake, there's a covered heated pool to splash around in, with a sliding roof that can be opened on hot summer days. Away from the water – if you must – there's that beach to idle upon, a playground with bouncy castle for always-energetic youngsters, and a kids' club for ages eight to 12 running five days a week in July and August. Free wifi is throughout the site.
Camping La Plage is right by the clear blue waters of 99-hectare Lac de Bariousses, which has playgrounds, miniature golf and a watersports base as well as its (supervised in summer) beach. A few kilometres from the lake is the spectacular medieval town of Treignac, on the banks of the Vézère, in the Millevaches Regional Nature Park and on the pilgrimage route of St James's Way: surely reasons/excuses to bag a month off work at the very least...
Also to hand on site are a motorhome service point, launderette facilities, and fresh bread and essential groceries for sale during July and August.

From the A20, come off at Exit 43 and follow the signs for Treignac. Take the road for Guéret and then follow the signs for 'La plage' or 'Lac des Bariousses'. The campsite will be situated on your left once on this road.

Canoe, kayak and pedalo hire as well as fishing are all available close to the site at Lac de Bariousses, and the lake's snack bar is 100 metres from Camping La Plage. A pétanque court, miniature golf and a sports court are also within 100 metres.
There's walking galore around the wide open spaces, through the forests and along the riverbanks of the nearby Plateau de Millevaches upland area; do forage as you go, as apples, nuts and berries are plentiful. Also actively, horse riding and a treetop adventure course are both 10 kilometres away and top spots for paragliding are within 15 kilometres.
After your tremendous day or two in Treignac, drive 35 minutes from Camping La Plage to Uzerche, hailed as the pearl of the Limousin and the home of Limousin nobility and posh sorts for centuries. Sights to see (bag a map at the tourist office) include the 12th-century Church of Saint-Pierre and its medieval garden and the 17th-century Maison Boyer Chammard, overlooking the river.
