Scenic forest settings go hand-in-hand with peaceful retreats. And that’s just what you’ll get with stays at Camping La Crémade, two kilometres from Axat, right in the Forest of Malo. Pitch up at this family-friendly Languedoc-Roussillon place and pass your time relaxing in the shade of the trees by day and admiring the starry skies by night. If you’re feeling slightly more energetic, boost lazy days with a game or two of pétanque, table tennis or volleyball on site. There’s a playground and trampoline for the kids, too. Looking for something even more energy-guzzling? Active holidays are just as achievable as relaxing ones, with the varied landscape of southern France putting sporty things like hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing and kayaking all within easy reach. Whatever you choose, it’s sure to be hungry work, so it's handy that there's a good menu of traditional dishes to refuel with at the restaurant back at base. Tuck in while admiring the mountain views from the outdoor terrace, or take your seat inside if you’d rather (there’s free wifi in the restaurant, so you can catch up with the world while there). If you fancy rustling up your own eats instead, barbecues are permitted, and supplies are easy to come by either at the site's well-stocked shop or in Axat (half an hour walk or five-minute drive), where there’s a supermarket, butcher and bakery, as well as bars and restaurants. On-site amenities cover toilets, a washing-up area and a handy launderette with washing machine, dryer and iron (deposit required).

喜欢: The campsite in the most amazing setting surrounded by mountains. Warm welcome

不喜欢: Pitches not very flat... Unfortunately Dogs were not on leads and dogs defecated on neighbouring pitches made it difficult when walking around in the dark

Il est fortement dommage et peu constructif pour nous, lorsqu'un client se cache derrière un avis au lieu de nous en faire part directement. Le 2/10 pour la propreté est difficile à encaisser ! Le camping et les sanitaires sont propres et souvent mentionnés dans les autres avis... Après, si un client n'a pas respecté le règlement, à savoir tenir son chien en laisse, il est vrai que ce n'est pas normal, maintenant j'espère pour vous que c'est du pied droit que vous êtes monté dedans, il paraît que cela porte chance ! It's a great pity and not very constructive for us when a customer hides behind a review instead of telling us about it directly. The 2/10 for cleanliness is hard to take! The campsite and sanitary facilities are clean and are often mentioned in other reviews... After that, if a customer hasn't respected the rules, i.e. keeping their dog on a lead, it's true that it's not normal, but now I hope for your sake that it was with the right foot that you climbed in, it's said to bring good luck! 喜欢: A fantastic, tranquil location, greatwoodenblodge with microwave, fridge, electric hob and all utensils. Lovely touches all over. You have everything you need. Peace and quiet. As much as I loved what we paid I think this site deserves at least 3 stars, if not more, not two as currently stated. We will definitely be back soon. And we will try to stay for at least two or three nights, not only one, because it's definitely worth it!

不喜欢: Nothing here,maybe expect overpriced IPA. But that's just me. Beer was good though.

喜欢: The setting is stunning, surrounded by mountains covered in forest that make you feel immersed in a lush green world you have long forgotten still exists. I stayed in one of the microlodges, which was perfectly organised with a minifridge, kettle, a small cooking facilty and cutlery. Everything was clean and well kept. The owners, Lolita and Cedric are lovely to a fault and all the facilities were in perfect order. My favourite camping by far and I will definitely return.

Camping La Crémade is on the path of the GR367 Cathar Trail from Aude to Ariège, so hiking is an obvious choice. As its name suggests, the trail is all about spotting the impressive Cathar castles of Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, Montségur, Roquefixade and Foix (they’re all about 40 minutes to an hour away by car, if you’re not here for the hiking). You can take your treks underground with a visit to the Aguzou Cave (25-minute drive), where small groups can don helmets, suits and lights to explore the cave system (there’s no artificial lighting down there). See the sights by train instead, by catching Le Train Rouge from Axat (half an hour walk or five-minute drive) for a journey through valleys and tunnels, around rivers and along rocky landscapes dotted with vineyards – you’ll see some of the castles this way, too. Opt for aquatic adventures with a rafting trip along the Aude river and through the rapids of Gorges de Saint-Georges (five-minute drive). Or choose calmer waters at Axat’s swimming pool (five minutes), with an outdoor pool, paddling pool, waterslide and whirlpool-jacuzzi.
