Tired and stressed after crawling through another week of work? What you need is a good dose of Camping Vitamin’, a family-friendly Normandy site spread over five hectares of greenery between Saint-Aubin-sur-Scie and Dieppe (and around a five-minute drive from both). It’s not just the name that’s packed with goodness here – the site, too, is the sort of place that’s likely to generate a healthy glow in guests. If you’re hoping to get/keep fitness levels up, head to the gym to spend time with cardio kit and weights, or set up for games of basketball, football or pétanque. During high season, suss out the daily activity offerings: aqua gym, water polo, step sessions and football tournaments are often on the cards. Cool off after any of the above with a swim in one of the pools – there’s an indoor heated number with a waterfall and kids’ pool with waterslides, and an outdoor pool that opens in high season with an area reserved for nippers. And to reward yourself for all your efforts? Perhaps a trip to the wellness area for a sauna or to get comfy on the hydromassage table (additional fees apply). Heading out is an option, too, of course – the hiking routes and beaches of the Alabaster Coast are 10 minutes’ drive away, and there are plenty more outings nearby whether you’re into gardens, rollercoasters or roaming around Rouen. Revitalised (hopefully) by all the above, it’ll be time to chill out with a drink in the site bar, where there are a couple of pool tables and a dartboard, or get stuck into high-season evenings of karaoke, dancing and bingo.

Dieppe (five minutes’ drive) is known to many simply as a place to catch a ferry, but there’s rather more to it than that so plan at least one day wandering around town, taking in the Château de Dieppe and the nautical museum and aquarium at Estran Cité de la Mer. There’s a beach just by the port in Dieppe, but if you’re in search of seaside days it’s an even finer idea to head out onto the beaches and coastal footpaths of the Alabaster Coast – they’re only 10 minutes’ drive away, after all, and really rather pretty. For other day-out options, wander through the huge English-style floral gardens at Bois des Moutiers (15 minutes’ drive) or get set for rollercoaster thrills and magic-themed tiddler-friendly rides at Parc du Bocasse (half an hour). A trip to Rouen (45 minutes) is an excellent way to fill a day, too: there are heaps of half-timbered buildings over here, along with a grand gothic cathedral and several museums to poke about in.
