If you’re overdue a visit to southern Brittany beaches, Camping de la Tour might be just what you’re looking for. This family-friendly campsite sits in the countryside on the edge of the coastal resort of Ambon and is only 20 minutes’ walk from sandy Plage de Trehervé on the Baie de Kervoyal. The site is neatly landscaped with flowers and shrubs, and partly shaded by mature trees. Ariane is the third generation of her family to run the place, and along with her team, she’ll welcome you with a smile. The grounds have water taps where you're welcome to fill up with fresh water, and if you need to locate the nearest motorhome service point, it's at the large supermarket just off the D20 and only a five-minute drive away from base. Families are certainly well looked after here, with a TV, book loan and board games for lazy days, or ping-pong, table football and pétanque games for when you’re feeling a bit more active. A roster of entertainment for all the family kicks off in July and August, when there’s also a breakfast pastry service and newspaper delivery at reception, as well as a snack bar selling ice creams and drinks. The laid-back towns of Ambon and Damgan (both about five minutes’ drive) have a sprinkling of low-key restaurants and takeaways, while the latter is also home to a big supermarket for stocking up on supplies.

喜欢 Not a difficult site to locate, but make sure that you do not turn left into the site on arrival, turn right into the large parking area. There is a sign but I missed it. The access road is shared with a farm & other sites.
Checking in was easy, we were advised which pitch to use. Pitches are a reasonable size, there was a communal water point opposite us. We had a semi shaded pitch. There are seasonal touring caravans & statics on this site.
The toilets / showers / elsan point are clean. You get a fob for the barrier (20€ deposit)
There are some nice walks which can get you to beaches, the site is dog friendly.
Damgan is around 7km away, free parking both in the village & at the beach. A small supermarket, cafes & a few shops. Muzilac in the opposite direction about 12km, has a commercial area with various stores, supermarkets & fuel, a leisure shop for motorhome/ vans. You also access the 'motorway' for Vannes (recommended) about 45 mins north & Nantes plus St Nazier (coast) just over an hour south.
This all makes the site a convenient location & there is a children's play area & the site was quiet when we stayed.

喜欢 Nice quiet campsite, food vans visit regularly, lovely beaches nearby, very helpful staff at reception,

不喜欢 This is mostly a campsite for fixed camper vans, with only a few pitches for tents mixed in amongst them. Not a problem in itself, but i think its why there isn't much of a holiday atmosphere, it's very quiet, so might not suit everyone. Felt a bit like being surrounded by small houses, not other campers!

Take the kids to whoosh down the waterslides while you lounge in the sauna at Aquagolfe - Aquatic Center Vannes Agglo (20 minutes’ drive), or spot the life-size model dinosaurs on a stroll through the woodland at La Croix Neuve Malansac (40 minutes). If you’re keen to squeeze a bit of culture into your Brittany break, pay a visit to historic Vannes (half an hour’s drive) to amble around the landmark ramparts, admire the architectural mash-up that is the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre or inspect works by Eugène Delacroix and 19th-century landscape artists at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Vannes, La Cohue, partly housed in a medieval tower.
