Time to touch base with the sand and perhaps brush up on your surfing skills? With a surf school on site, Camping Le Kergorz is the place for it. This Finistère site is just 100 metres from the beach, so you’re all set whether you want to hike along the famed GR34 coastal path, kick back with your next page-turner and listen to the waves or take a surf lesson. If you’re not interested in riding the rollers (as they say), you can instead get stuck into fishing, kitesurfing and sand yachting on site. There’s also a play area, a grocery shop and a café within the grounds – all adding to the friendly family atmosphere. To reach restaurants and bars, it's just a matter of taking a 10 to 25-minute stroll to the local towns and villages. Being based in such a central part of Brittany has its perks too, of course. Camping Le Kergorz overlooks the Iroise Sea in the Bay of Douarnenez. It's a 20-minute drive from Ménez-Hom, a volcanic hill where the intrepid among you can go paragliding (or hiking for those who'd rather stay at ground level). It's also a 25-minute drive south of the Crozon peninsula and a 35-minute drive north of the city of Quimper. Set an alarm for sunset if you don't want to miss the stunning colours every evening. Facilities-wise, the site has toilets and showers. Dogs are welcome.

喜欢 We wanted to find a site next to the sea and we struck gold with this one. Positioned just over the sand dunes and a small road, we walked onto the vast sandy beach within 2 minutes.
The campsite was very clean, no litter anywhere and clean toilets, showers and washing up area.
Each pitch is private with carefully planted hedges around the each.
We were warmly greeted by Séverine and Michel who asked us what type of pitch we wanted, (sunny, near the beach, near the toilet block etc).
We were able to buy a delicious local beer, I recommend the dark one flavoured with honey and if we had wanted there was an option to buy pizza.
The site is quiet, as is the area, if you want want lots to do this is not the area for you but if you want a quite get away with stunning beaches then this would be perfect.

喜欢 Very close to a wide sandy beach, pitches not the biggest but big enough and large hedges making it private, very pleasant people in reception and spoke English, toilets and showers old but clean.

不喜欢 The water tap was very slow and you have to hold the button in, strange flush on the Elsan point thought it was going to overflow but it didn’t.

喜欢 Beautiful location near the beach and a good spot to explore Crozon. Very friendly helpful staff. Sites are large, level and each is surrounded by trees giving privacy and shade. Toilet block is really nice and not too busy.

喜欢 Location was incredible, very close to the beach, which we made good use of during our stay.
The campsite on the whole was quiet, the spaces are level and of a reasonable size although rather squashed together.

不喜欢 The walk to the toilet block was through a wooded area, which became very muddy following rain.
The number of toilets and showers was not adequate for the number of people camping, particularly as two were out of order. The site was full and there were regularly queues outside.

You’ve got plenty of sand and such at your fingertips, but if you want to take things a step further and experience some island life, even if just for a day, make your way to Camaret-sur-Mer (35 minutes) for boats to the islands of Ushant and the Molène archipelago. From Sainte-Evette (55 minutes), there are ferries to Île de Sein, another stunning island just off the coast. In Quimper (35 minutes), the half-timbered houses and Gothic cathedral of the old town will keep you occupied. It also has an arts museum with regional art pieces, a faience pottery museum and the Breton Country Museum with traditional costumes and other artefacts that have been dug up over the years. The Crozon peninsula has a string of stunning beaches and sea caves, but be sure to swing by Crozon (25 minutes) for a nice lunch and to follow the Route des Fortifications (half an hour) to see batteries and towers built from medieval times into the 17th century. Douarnenez (half an hour) has slim streets and – perhaps expected, once you realise the town has four harbours – a maritime museum next to the oldest harbour where visitors can have a look around vessels such as a lobster boat, British tug and a barge. Brest (55 minutes) has yet more museums, but kids should especially like tanks at Oceanopolis. Look out for those dorsal fins, as the aquarium has seven different shark species.
