Everybody go surfing… Brittany all the way. If you're a Brit seeking a surf hol but also seeking to escape busy beaches in Cornwall, zip across the Channel to Finistère's Camping de la Torche: it's less than a kilometre and a half from the famed and foamy waters of Pointe de la Torche, with direct access via a peaceful footpath. And if you're coming from anywhere else on the planet? Take your board or buy your first and trot along here too, for this is mighty surf. More of a basker, paddler or sand wanderer? A huge swathe of beach also awaits at La Torche, and the sands have easy access to the spectacular GR 34 hiking trail snaking for 1,800 kilometres around Brittany's coast. There's birdwatching to be had around the nearby marshlands, and the Bay of Audierne and Penmarch peninsula to explore, and French fishing villages (and fish) to investigate fully. Townwise, Plomeur is four kilometres away. Back at base, while away many hours at the big heated pool, while the kids bounce around the adventure playground with huge inflatable. Sporty options include volleyball and football at the multisports area and pétanque at the pétanque court. July and August see loads of entertainment such as crêpe and barbecue nights, karaoke, discos, concerts, tournaments and bingo.

Surf, surf and more surf… La Torche is famed throughout France – and beyond – as a top surfing spot; its waves are so splendid it's also been host to the Windsurfing World Cup. If you've never dipped your toe before but would quite like to try, several surf schools are around to show you the way and to hire out kit. For strolls and gentler times, take your ornithological interests and your binoculars to the Maison de la Baie d'Audierne (10 minutes' drive), a bird and rescue centre with exhibits and information on the excellent birdwatching around this part of Brittany. Guided tours are available. Fish fans should meander along to the 'city of fish' Haliotika (20 minutes), for exhibits on the local fishing trade and the peeps that ply it, as well as a look at one of the biggest fish auctions in the land. The history of Finistère is laid out at Penmarch’s prehistory museum (10 minutes) with over 3,000 archaeological artefacts to potter around, while the town of Pont l'Abbé (20 minutes) is well worth a look for its costume museum. Further along the coast, Bénodet (25 minutes) has been a popular Brittany seaside spot for decades: laze around the harbour or the sandy family-friendly beach, before an hour or three in one of Bénodet's seafood restaurants. Horse riding is available within 400 metres.

喜欢 Private, level pitches with easy access to water and electricity. Quiet family friendly sight and great location. Lovely clean facilities though in August you often need to queue at peak times. Food vans available most days ( except Sunday ) are a good option .

不喜欢 Visited mid august so to be expected I guess but pool was packed with seemingly unsupervised ( by parents) unruly kids when we tried to use it .
And not a dislike as it avoids campers being disturbed too early with car sounds but gates are locked until 8 am so if you are there for surf and want to do a dawn surf check make sure you leave your car in the car park overnight!

喜欢 Staff at reception were very welcoming. The site was really pleasant with people from all over Europe. Facilities were clean. The food vans on site had good options for vegetarians. There is plenty of activities including karaoke if that’s your thing. The beach was nearby, 20 minute walk, very clean and not overcrowded - water was too cold for us. I would really recommend this site.

不喜欢 Would have preferred a slightly bigger pitch as we had 2 cars but managed with our roof box tent and large tent.
