Neatly landscaped pitches surrounded by greenery and flowers and a scenic setting on the banks of the Couesnon River – that's the deal at family-friendly Camping Haliotis near Pontorson in Lower Normandy. From the moment you arrive on site, everything is designed to make things easy for families. Spacious grassy pitches are separated by hedges to ensure your privacy. Amenities include heated facilities blocks with disabled access, plus the use of a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer to keep on top of chores. There’s a daily croissant and fresh bread service, and plenty going on to keep all the family occupied. Youngsters can jump around on the bouncy castle and visit the mini-zoo to cuddle the goats, ponies and rabbits, while their teenage counterparts run around playing football, basketball or volleyball at the multisports area, or challenge each other to games of tennis or pétanque. And you? Well, it’s your holiday too. Daily life drifts around the bar terrace, where you can order breakfast, snacks and all-day drinks while keeping an eye on your offspring in the heated pool. During high season, there’s a kids' club on site, so you can enrol your children there and chill in the Jacuzzi or sauna knowing they are safe and happy. Organised entertainment will keep everyone busy at Camping Haliotis too, including sports tournaments, live music and themed nights. But fun as life is on site, don’t forget that the landmark Mont Saint-Michel is 20 minutes’ drive away – you really shouldn’t miss it.

喜欢 Site clean and tidy, staff pleasant pool and bit small for size of site but worked. Farm animals good idea. Nice stay.

不喜欢 Would not show English football for the quarter finals, stated too late although we had to listen to the cheers of the French game being show quite late and also the spain game late into the night. Need to be fair to all guest it's only once every 4 years. If we play france in the final I am sure it would be shown what ever time it was.

喜欢 Large grass pitch, clean modern facilities. Nice bar area.
Pool was lovely but not big enough for the amount of people using it.

不喜欢 Too many kids in the pool. I’m sure most of them were not staying on the site

喜欢 Location was convenient for a visit to Mont Saint Michel. Pitch was a good size, clean and tidy with hedges surrounding. Only stayed for one-night during a short tour of Normandy. Did not use the swimming pool, but looked like a nice facility.

不喜欢 Some traffic noise audible in the morning from nearby highway. Toilets and shower block were a modern, unisex design. Found a few toilets had run out of paper in the morning - check before using!

喜欢 Location and ease of access and pitch sizes.

不喜欢 Showers were push button (lasting seconds) and high up, that just sent out a fine spray. No restaurant.

喜欢 We really enjoyed our stay here. The nearby village of Pontorson was a gentle cycle away, and had some beautiful streets and buildings. The campsite itself had good clean facilities, that had a nice open feel. The pitch was in good condition and near facilities. Good playground for the kids too. Great location to visit Mont St Michel too. We liked the nice little touches of the music in the communal areas.

不喜欢 Grass & hedges on each pitch very overgrown - hard to understand as weather been so nice it was very dry underfoot so not an issue not for it to be kept cut and tidy looked so untidy each pitch it wasn’t nice to sit outside van when grass was so overgrown

Mont Saint-Michel (20 minutes’ drive) on the Emerald Coast is the big-hitting attraction in these parts: a splendid tidal island topped by a 13th-century abbey. Wear sturdy shoes to climb steep stone steps and potter around cosy auberges, cafés and souvenir shops on your way up to the Terrasse de l’Ouest for far-reaching views over the bay. If you’d rather explore on two wheels, rent a bike at the campsite and follow the riverside cycle path to the island (half an hour’s ride). The historic seaside resort of Saint-Malo (45 minutes’ drive) is another highlight of the Emerald Coast. Take a day trip to stroll its medieval ramparts, hike out to the Petit Bé fort at low tide, or enjoy a leisurely seafood lunch in a harbourside restaurant. Kids getting bored? Let them loose on the expanse of sand at Sillon beach, or tootle around the town on a sightseeing mini-train. Don’t forget Cancale (40 minutes), where you can feast on oysters farmed in the bay, and walk the seafront Sentier des Douaniers footpath for fantastic views over Mont Saint-Michel.
