To learn more about the region’s long relationship with the sea, take a self-guided tour of the submarine, deep-sea diving bubbles and aquarium full of colourful sea life at the interactive Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg (25 minutes). Got a day when the weather’s not playing nicely? Round up the kids and set off for the hot tubs, waterslides and lap pool at the streamlined Centre Aquatique (40 minutes).
