Family-friendly (and dog-friendly too) Camping Saint-Michel is set in a spacious landscaped park, with plenty of greenery and flower-filled beds about the place. It has easy access to major attractions in both Brittany and Normandy – and is only 10 minutes’ drive from the medieval wonders of UNESCO-listed Mont Saint-Michel. But there’s masses to keep everyone busy on site. Kids can have lots of fun in the heated swimming pool (open from mid-May to mid-September) while you keep an eye on proceedings from the bar terrace, there’s a play area with bouncy castles for them to jump around on and activities at the kids’ club in high season. Older offspring may like to kick a ball around on the football field, challenge new-found friends to a game of pétanque or play ping pong. And few kids – whatever their age – will turn down the chance to meet the donkeys, wallabies, rabbits and chickens at the petting farm. Handy services for keeping the family well fed – and therefore happy – include a mini-market for stocking up on essentials, a bakery for the all-important daily baguette (please order the night before) and a takeaway service from the bar in July and August (not Mondays). A few practical details here: modern facilities include toilet blocks with hot showers, family washrooms, disabled access and coin-operated washing machines. Anything else that you need, just ask at reception.

喜欢 Lovely site and facilities. Clean and well looked after.

不喜欢 Really disliked having mixed sex toilets and showers. Didn’t use them at all used motorhome which was very disappointing.

喜欢 Friendly reception staff. Good understanding of English. Flexibility on pitch as first allocation was unsuitable. Not far from Mont St Michel

不喜欢 General unpleasant smell in toilet/shower facilities and near the facility block. Think origin was drains.

Disappointing that fellow campers didn’t clean up after themselves and campsite cleaning wasn’t as robust as other sites we stayed at during our visit.

Rubbish left on floor next to refuse bins was not cleared the whole two days we were there. Evidence that some of the smaller items of rubbish, ie pieces of paper, had been there preceeding our visit.

Pool was used. Not covered overnight. Lots of dead bugs on surface. Staff was asked for a net to collect them. Net didn’t arrive.

喜欢 Gentillesse accueil. Proximité Saint-Michel.

不喜欢 Toilettes trop étroites, vraiment (!) et le distributeur de papier toilette trop large ! Il prend toute la place et impossible de s'asseoir sur la cuvette convenablement. Encombrement maximum, ce n'est pas facile d'entrer tout simplement ; pas d'espace entre porte et cuvette WC ! Solutions simples : il y a trop de toilettes juxtaposées et tout le monde ne va pas aux toilettes en même temps. Donc en laisser cinq par exemple, ce qui permet d'élargir chacune d'elles sur la même longueur.

喜欢 The camp site was ok,not to.big,lovely swim pool,

不喜欢 The shop does have much in it,and woukdnt do us quostnts to eat, the cooker in accomadation well coukdnt say it was a cooker, no main oven, plus why would you have a dishwasher in kitchen,put a proper oven in there, hardly any bowel to use, the mosqueto traps on windows all broken do couldnt use so got biten very dissapointed

Seemed nice, we were only there for 1 night.
Nice to order morning croissants when we arrived.
Pitch not quite level but fine.
Facilities fine.
Within easy cycling distance of Mont St Michel.

To up the ‘wow’ factor of your visit, take a pony-and-trap ride across the causeway to the island, and linger in the evening to watch the sound-and-light extravaganza showcasing its history. Turn to Brittany to explore the walled Intra-Muros old town in Saint-Malo (50 minutes), have a look around the landmark Cathédrale Saint-Vincent de Saint-Malo and chill on the Grande Plage. Round off the day by ordering a ham-and-cheese pancake in one of the town’s famed crêperies. In Dinard (45 minutes), set the kids to building sandcastles on Plage de l’Écluse, make time for a pamper in one of the spas, and have an evening wander along the seafront Clair de Lune promenade to see the sunset.
