Ingredients for a happy family seaside holiday? A beach within easy walking distance, somewhere to eat close by and plenty of cool shade to relax in for a siesta, perhaps. And that’s a trio that’s on offer for guests at Camping Albret, barely 20 minutes’ walk from sandy Plage des Sablères in the Landes region. This site has been run by four generations of the same family, and they’ve learned a few things about what makes a holiday go smoothly in that time – simple grass pitches are shaded by pine trees and have access to a small shop and a snack bar to keep everyone fed. There’s also a play area, and a TV room for those times when you need a bit of downtime indoors. The beach is a lovely one for families, but it’s also something of a draw for watersports nuts – it’s a popular base for kitesurfers, jet skiers and surfers. Meanwhile, novice sailors can learn their craft on the lakes of Hossegor, Léon and Soustons (all around 20 minutes’ drive). Back on dry land, cyclists have the choice of myriad traffic-free bike tracks and keen riders can trek through forested Landes countryside. If you’re not so keen on that level of activity, simply head for the beach, lay down your towel and snooze in the sun. However you’ve filled your day, you may like to bring along a barbecue to get the evening going with a grilled dinner – there are shops for supplies in Messanges (five minutes’ drive or 35 minutes’ walk), which also has several eateries if you’d rather have a meal out. The site is also just a few hundred metres away from an amusement park, which stays open until 1am every night.

喜欢 Spacious pitches, close to an amazing beach with great swimming, friendly staff always on hand to help, messaged for an earlier than advertised check in and this was accommodated. Plenty for children to do with a park, bouncy castle and table tennis. Walking distance to town which had a great market.

不喜欢 Would benefit from more showers as we had to queue but never for very long.

喜欢 Unser Stellplatz war sehr gross und wir waren sehr positiv überrascht von allen Angeboten, die uns auf dem Camping zur Verfügung standen.

喜欢 Aufgeräumter Zeltplatz mit ordentlichen Anlagen. Genug Sanitäranlagen.

Ganz prima freundliches Personal, und man kann morgens im Shop Baguette und Croissant kaufen.

不喜欢 Jahrmarkt nebenan, der erst nachts um eins Ruhe gab. Unerträglich laut.

Die duschen waren mal warm mal kalt, aber nie so wie man das wollte.

Unser Sozial Platz war in einer Position, wo man eigentlich keine Zelders Plätze mehr vergibt. Sehr weit von allem entfernt. Es befanden sich Glas Scherben auf dem Platz, die wir mühselig entfernt haben, metallische Bodenanker in dem Boden, versenkt und gefährlich.

Man sollte sich bewusst sein, dass der Weg zum Strand sehr lang ist. Unbedingt Fahrräder mitbringen.

不喜欢 Fête foraine juste en face l'été ouvert de 20h a 1h donc pas mal de bruit selon où vous êtes dans le camping
Douche froide (alternance filet d'eau chaude) donc pour les enfants c'était moins cool après une journée de plage
Les compteurs de branchement électrique pas assez puissant (notre frigo n'a pas tenu le choc on a perdu beaucoup de denrées alimentaires)
1 seul espace sanitaire pour tout le camping

喜欢 Der Zeltplatz ist sehr schön angelegt, die Stellplätze schattig und das Personal freundlich. Wir fanden auch toll, dass nur minimal Animation stattfindet. Die Toiletten und Duschen waren top! 15min Fußweg zum Meer, herrlich!

不喜欢 Direkt nebenan gibt es einen Rummel ( amusement park), geöffnet täglich von 20-1 Uhr. Das ist recht laut, vor allem das Geschrei vom „Booster“.

喜欢 Es ist sehr schlicht, aber man hat alles was man benötigt. Für den Preis wirklich gut.
Wir empfehlen Fahrräder mitzunehmen oder zu mieten. Sonst läuft man ca. 20min oder 10min ins Zentrum. Wir kommen gerne wieder

Once you’ve spent a good few hours on your local beach, you may like to set off in search of a change of scenery – perhaps the sands of Plage de Soustons (10 minutes’ drive) or a stroll through the dunes of Courant d’Huchet Nature Reserve (15 minutes). A little way back from the coast, Marais d’Orx National Nature Reserve (40 minutes) is a haven for birdwatchers. Need a little more activity in your life? Head for Adrénaline Parc (10 minutes), the largest tree-climbing park in the Aquitaine with quad bikes and paintballing as well as the treetop courses. There’s another chance to get up into the trees at Parc Accrobranche Là Haut Aventure Park (15 minutes). Back down at ground level, a walk in the forest takes an unusual turn at Dinosaures Parc (15 minutes), where you’ll come across huge dinos and dragons hiding among the trees; there are also things like bouncy castles and go-karts to play with.
