Camping La Grande Veyière

Castles, abbeys, vast caves, fortified villages... the Périgord has plenty of places to visit whatever your taste. The site's proximity to the Dordogne and Vézère valleys gives easy access to most of the area's top attractions: it's 40 minutes' drive north of the world-famed prehistoric caves at Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil; east of the Dordogne river and the medieval town of Sarlat (50 minutes); south of Monpazier (25 minutes) and many small fortified towns; and west of Bergerac and its many vineyards, 45 minutes from the site. Swimming, canoeing and boat trips on the Dordogne and Vézère rivers can all be accessed close by, and there are dedicated routes for ramblers, mountain bikers or for those who want to explore on horseback. Grottoes and cliffs for rock climbers are also nearby, along with golf, archery and forest adventure trails: ask the friendly team back at base for details. And for food? Head to the local street markets to stock up on walnuts, prunes, strawberries, foie gras, truffles and mushrooms from the farms surrounding Bergerac.
