You’ll be hard pressed to find a site that’s closer to the coast than Camping Opatija – getting to the seashore from this peaceful Kvarner site is a simple matter of walking down 65 steps. Once you’re down there you’ll have a choice of sitting on the beach or strolling along to the harbour area for fishing supplies, boat trips and kayak/paddleboard rentals. Proximity to the water isn’t the only selling point of this place though – it’s also got a fabulous spot in the woods just on the edge of the village of Ičići. That means you’ll have a chilled-out natural setting to relax in, with plenty of shade and privacy and a quiet atmosphere (well, apart from the chirping of the crickets…) At the same time, you’ll still be able to walk to pretty much everything you need – including a supermarket, cafés and places to eat. Looking to explore a little further afield? Getting out and about should be easy enough, as the site is only a short way from the main road. It’ll take you about five minutes to drive to the elegant seafront town of Opatija and half an hour to Rijeka – or you could opt to stick with the natural views by heading up into the Učka Nature Park (15 minutes) for a hike. Dogs are welcome to join you on the pitches here, which are simple in style but have access to wifi, a washing-up area, toilets and showers.

喜欢: Les emplacement sont un peu en dévers mais rien de gênant. Vu sur la mer Très bon accueil. Les sanitaires sont un peu vétuste mais propre les agent d’entretien passe régulièrement le camping est calme.

喜欢: Kemping elhelyezkedése, teraszos elrendezés, tengerre való kilátás, közeli bevásárlási lehetőség, hűtő bérlési lehetőség, kedves. segítőkész recepció, tengerpart, tiszta vizesblokkok

不喜欢: hiába voltak tiszták a vizesblokkok, a hátsó részen lévőre nagyon ráférne a felújítás. Kicsit magasnak tartottuk a napi 5 euros hűtőgép bérleti díjat.

喜欢: Bagni e servizi igienici ben forniti e mantenuti, sempre puliti. Vicinissimo alla spiaggia, al supermercato e a punti di ristorazione.

不喜欢: Un po' mal organizzate le piazzole, alcune livellate male, il wi-fi non funziona e poche cose da fare nel camping. Per questo il prezzo è stato troppo caro, in più per la corrente si chiedono 6€ al giorno.

喜欢: Die Anlage ist sehr sauber! Die Toiletten und Duschen werden regelmäßig geputzt und sauber gehalten. Möglichkeiten zum Geschirrabspülen und Stromanschluss waren gegeben.

喜欢: The location was fantastic, across the road from sea, plenty of shops, restaurants and beach cafe’s within walking distance. I loved the fact you could choose your own pitch from a variety of different areas. The toilets/showers were clean and all the staff were really friendly and helpful.

不喜欢: €10 to do one load of washing seemed expensive, only thing I have to put here!

喜欢: De plek. We hadden een plek volledig in de schaduw onder de bomen. Deze mochten we zelf uitzoeken. Ook is er een kleine bakker op het terrein.

不喜欢: Minder blij met de sanitair gebouwen. Drie dagen geen warm water gehad in de avond en het rook niet zo fris. Na een lange dag reizen had ik graag warm willen douchen in plaats van steenkoud. De overige 2 dagen was het gelukkig gewoon koud. Het water loopt er ook niet zo goed weg wat resulteert in een beetje modderige bedoeling bij de wasbakken. Er zijn er weinig haakjes of plankjes om je spullen kwijt te kunnen in de douche. De prijs van de wasmachine. 10 euro om te wassen is belachelijk. Als de sanitair gebouwen worden opgeknapt kom ik graag terug.

Come to this part of Croatia for the coastline? There are lots of ways to take it all in, including hiring kayaks or paddleboards (10 minutes’ walk), settling on Peharovo beach (five minutes’ drive) or making your way to Mošćenice (15 minutes) for a stroll around the pretty village before heading down to the beach for a swim in the clear turquoise waters. For a different kind of seaside view, make your way to Opatija (five minutes) for a stroll along the 12-kilometre seafront promenade – see if you can spot the 'Walk of Fame' on the high street too, filled with the names of various Croatian talents. Rijeka (half an hour) is primarily known to many tourists as a port city, but it's worth spending some time there to visit the castle, see the Roman Arch and wander around the modern art museum. Sticking to countryside pursuits, there are some lovely hiking and cycling trails in Učka Nature Park (15 minutes), including some that lead to a waterfall, an ancient garden or up to the tower on top of Mount Učka.
