Beach holiday in Blankenberge? By the beach is exactly where you’ll be at Vakantiepark Beachside – this family-friendly holiday park is a mere 50 metres from the beach, the dunes and the sea, so you’ll be able to stroll out onto the sand whenever you like during your stay. The seafront aspect of the location is fabulous, of course – but so is the fact that the park is just on the edge of town, giving you plenty of quiet green space on site while also putting you within easy reach of town-centre amenities. A walk of 10-15 minutes gets you to Blankenberge’s pier, restaurants, a supermarket, shops, a sports centre, a bowling hall and attractions including the Sea Life Centre and the Art Nouveau buildings around the town centre. If you don't want to walk, reach it by bicycle in under five minutes, by car in two minutes, or take the coastal tram which stops right in front of the entrance to the site. Getting around the surrounding area is probably best done by bike – there’s a good bike path running along the seafront, and you can pick up a network of countryside paths nearby too. Bikes can be hired on site if you can’t bring your own, and there are maps available to help you find the best local routes (with walking options available too). For easy trips to other destinations (Bruges being a particular favourite), there are tram stops, bus stops and a railway station. Back on the site there are various facilities available to help you have a comfortable and relaxed stay – these include a launderette, a washing-up area, a wifi service and a bathroom block.

喜欢: Very quiet site so peaceful. Spotlessly clean, no waiting on showers or toilets Loved the pizza machine on site!

不喜欢: Toilet blocks were quite a trek from touring site, not too bad if you have your own loo but would be a nightmare if you needed to go through the night.

喜欢: The showers are lovely and clean. The site itself is very clean and quiet. Lots to do nearby and the staff were very nice and friendly.

不喜欢: Large parts of unkept land on the site, it just makes the place look untidy.

喜欢: It was really close to the beach. And there is a nice playground for kids.

不喜欢: The place we got was actually already taken. And it was so tiny and crowded that I just couldn’t stay even on the next place. Luckily there was enough space on a parking lot, so we camped there. Also toilets were in the middle of group of tiny houses and so far from campers who actually use them.

喜欢: Nothing, awful site, more of a building site. Close to blankenburge

不喜欢: Everything, the pitches in front where like buildings sites big holes in the ground and very rocky, pipes springing up from everywhere, very unsafe especially for little ones, nothing on site for children, motohome pitches where more than 30 meters away from electric hook up even though when I booked I booked an electric pitch, Very unsafe all round, small pitches needed up leaving and not staying at all. Didn't see waste disposal and wasn't shown to any water either had to pay extra for showers too. Stay away!

不喜欢: Es gibt keine separaten Waschbecken zum Zähneputzen etc. Außerdem gibt es für Damen und Herren jeweils nur 2 Toiletten und 2 Duschen.

不喜欢: Der Campingplatz wird aktuell umgebaut. Wir bekamen einen gesperrten Platz zugewiesen, welcher sehr uneben war und wo Baumaterial und Kabeln herumlagen. Zum nächsten Stromanschluss hätten wir ein ca. 30 - 40 m langes Kabel benötigt. Für die Größe des Campingplatzes ist das Bad/WC zu klein. Man musste oft anstehen.

The three-kilometre stretch of beach in Blankenberge may well keep you occupied for a fair amount of your holiday, but that’s not the only thing the town has to offer. You’ll also want to take a stroll along the 350-metre-long pier (perhaps stopping for something to eat on the way, or looking out for one of the regular cultural events) and see more than 5,000 aquatic creatures at Sea Life Blankenberge. Elsewhere along the coast you may also like to take the tram to one of the neighbouring towns like Knokke-Heist (half an hour on the tram) or De Haan (40 minutes) – each has its own character. There’s also a lovely coastal park at Zwin Natuur Park (half an hour's drive), with coastal walking and bike trails through salt marshes and around the lagoon. Inland, you should certainly make time for a visit to Bruges (20 minutes' drive/half an hour by train) to take a boat tour, climb the Belfry, admire the architecture and visit the museums. And if you've got the kids with you, the rides and shows of Plopsaland De Panne (55 minutes) may well be on the cards too…
