An immaculately maintained lawn with expansive mountain views in the distance: not too shabby a location to spend your holiday, right? And that’s exactly what awaits at Camping Freskia. This peaceful, family-friendly site in northern Albania’s Shkodër County is in Theth National Park – and boy, does it deliver the wow factor when it comes to setting and scenery. You can step out of your accommodation in the morning to be greeted by glorious views of the forested slopes and rugged peaks of the Albanian Alps, and the Lumi i Thethit river below. Before a day of hiking, you can fortify yourself with a traditional breakfast at the restaurant, which also serves a range of meals at dinnertime. You’ll probably be grateful for the on-site catering, for this spot is pretty isolated: Theth, the nearest village, is 20 minutes’ drive away on the rather gnarly SH21 road, with its hairpin turns and unpaved stretches (although there are also a couple of restaurants within a 20-minute drive). And there is lots more to be grateful for here, including a toilet block, hot-water showers (including disabled facilities), drinkable water, a launderette and a washing-up area, not to mention friendly owners who are on hand to provide information on the local sights. Barbecues are supplied, and a small shop on site sells local produce, so you and your family (and your dog, who is welcome here) can settle down for an evening of grilling, relaxing and taking in the spectacle of the night sky.

喜欢 The camping has everything you need! Showers with hot water, toiletts, a fountain with fresh drinking water and even a volleyball field. You can enjoy amazing food freshly cooked from his mother while watching the breathtaking mountains. We were a bit unprepared and our tent was leaking when it rained. Christian offered us to stay in his fathers van for free eventhough he could have rent us a room in exchange for money. What a great soul!! We also had trouble cooking sometimes but gladly Christian helped us out! We are so greatful for his help! We definitely recommed the Freskia camping.

喜欢 Reservation online, personal welcome, view on the mountains, home made dinner. The entrance road is a nice experience. Many activities are possible in the sorrounding.

不喜欢 Showers and toilets are ok but need some repair.

喜欢 Beautiful setting overlooking the mountains, with plenty of space and hosts were very welcoming. Dinner at the restaurant was very good and terrific value.
Lovely walking trails from the campsite

喜欢 Fantastic people, superb location, surrounded by beautiful peaks and with Theth below in the valley.
Extremely quiet and peaceful.
Morning breakfast buffet and evening meal available, home cooked, delicious and plentiful.
Coffee, beer available for purchase from owners.
Water is potable and delicious, water cocks throughout the place.
Everywhere is maintained clean.

不喜欢 Electric power with no power - enough for a light, not enough for Nespresso machine or water kettle so advisable to have gas cooker.
Hot water not always available, boilers are of low capacity, must choose timing wisely.

喜欢 The owners were really friendly and helpful. The showers and toilets were very clean with hot water. Views over theth were good. Nice and peaceful, with only a short drive into town (can also walk).

喜欢 Lage und Aussicht sind unglaublich schön, Besitzer sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. Sowohl das Frühstücksbuffet als auch das Abendessen von der Mama selbst gekocht und super lecker. Es gibt vier Duschen mit WC, je 2 türkische und europäische Varianten. Platz frei wählbar, überall auf dem Platz verteilt Trinkwasser und Stromanschlüsse.

You’ll be in the middle of Theth National Park here, so get exploring those mountains covered with oak and beech forests. Although brown bears and grey wolves live in these woods, you’re much more likely to come across roe deer and wild goats during your hikes. You might also catch a glimpse of a swooping golden eagle. Across the river, dwarfed by the dramatic mountainous landscape, is the pretty 19th-century church of Kisha e Thethit (15 minutes’ drive), with its typically alpine architecture of stone walls and sloping wooden roofs. A short stroll further south takes you to the Reconciliation Tower, where disputes among villagers were once settled. This area is also known for its many cascades, including the dramatic Grunas waterfall (20 minutes), with water falling down a sheer rock face from a height of 25m into a boulder-dotted pond where you can have a swim – if you can brave the rather chilly temperature, that is.
