After a secluded stay on Anglesey? Take a peek at peaceful Pengraig Campsite. Up at the isle’s most north-western point near Church Bay, it’s about as far as you can get from the mainland without actually ditching into the sea. With that far-flung setting comes a stunning sea view – one that can be gawped at for many hours from the comfort of your pitch (a recommended activity around sunset, with a drink in one hand and a barbecue stoking implement in the other). See the sea from a different angle on the Anglesey Coast Path (within 10 minutes' walk of the site) or while strolling on the sands of one of the local beaches. The waves aren’t the only gazing material around here – turn your back on the coast for scenic views of Mynydd Y Garn hill, or bring binoculars for a bit of birdwatching. Once darkness falls, direct your gaze upwards; the lack of light pollution means the stars can often put on a glittering show here. This isn’t a place for folks seeking heaps of facilities and entertainment; the emphasis is very much on peace and nature. Low-key amenities include a drinking water supply, a chemical disposal point and a toilet block (with basins and proper flushing loos). If you want to venture out in search of things to eat, a café and pub are five minutes’ drive away (or around 20 minutes' walk away) in Church Bay, and a little supermarket is 15 minutes away in Cemaes.

喜欢 I stayed at Pengraig Campsite for two nights, from 23–25 September 2026, and I absolutely loved my stay.

The campsite is peaceful, with beautiful sea views, and the owner was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. I really enjoy simple, natural camping, so this site was perfect for me. The sea view, quiet surroundings, sheep and cows nearby, and waking up to the sunrise made it feel very special.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the facilities. The toilet and sink were very clean, and there was fresh water and somewhere to dispose of waste water.

Another thing I really appreciated was the very reasonable check-in and departure times. You can check in up until 9:00 pm, which I think is really considerate, especially if you are travelling after work or coming from further away. Departure is by 12 noon, which also worked perfectly for me. It meant I could enjoy a relaxed morning rather than feeling I had to pack everything away first thing.

The location is also lovely, with Church Bay and coastal walks nearby. Anglesey has always been a very special place to me, and finding this campsite made this visit even more memorable.

I would definitely come back and stay for longer next time.

喜欢 Top notch view of the coast with decent sized pitches. Was absolutely silent overnight so slept solidly through the night. Perfect place to watch the sun dip below the horizon and well placed as a base to explore the local bays.

喜欢 A beautiful, quiet, small, level site with views of the sea (and a wonderful sunset one evening). The dark sky meant there were many stars when it was clear. Be aware that the site has very basic facilities (e.g. only cold running water and a single, not very private sink, plus another for washing pots). No WiFi and very little phone signal. It feels remote, with a longish drive in on single track roads, so it is close to wild camping - but that adds to its charm, and tends to attract congenial and considerate neighbours - all of the people I met were nice. It might not suit families with children so well? The only nearby entertainment is coastal walks and bird life. I would stay there again.

喜欢 Gorgeous little site, with lovely views of the sea and a duck pond. Someone had pitched where they were not supposed to (an area intended to be kept clear to ensure everyone else has a view), but there was still enough loveliness to see. There were toilets and washing up facilities, which we were not expecting. Andrew, who came to make sure we were ok, was so nice and told us all about the area. Loved it!

当地景点

All visitors to Anglesey should angle for as much coastal time as possible. That may well include lengthy rambles on the Anglesey Coast Path (which passes close to Pengraig) and/or as many hours as you can spare for beach time. Take a 20-minute stroll to rocky Ynys y Fydlyn beach or the (often almost empty) sands of Church Bay. Stick around in Church Bay to eat at the pub or café, or for a glance into the past at the Swtan Heritage Museum, then drive for 25 minutes or so to Amlwch, the northernmost town in all of Wales. It may look rather sleepy now but back in the day (the late 1800s) around 10,000 people gathered here around the world’s largest copper mine. Get an idea of what the place was like back then at the town’s Copper Kingdom Centre, then take a colourful walk round the old mine at Parys Mountain. After you’ve knocked around the north for a bit, head south for visits to Beaumaris Castle (45 minutes) and Ynys Llanddwyn (50 minutes), the island dedicated to the Welsh patron saint of lovers. A photo stop by the sign for the UK’s longest town name is a must, too. Deep breath and all together now… Llanfair­pwllgwyngyll­gogery­chwyrn­drobwll­llan­tysilio­gogo­goch (35 minutes).
