Cae Ddel Country Camping is a little gem of a Greener Camping Club members-only (nearly) wild site in Gwynedd, tucked into woodland and a short walk from a couple of wildlife ponds. This is an off-grid site with no wifi, offering you a total detox from the 21st-century world; take advantage of that to enjoy some quiet downtime with partners, family or friends. However, Cae Ddel deserves its ‘nearly’ wild accolade thanks to the hot showers found in the up-cycled trailer, along with three loos and a washing-up area to make your adventure as effortless as possible. If you fancy trying a bit of alfresco cooking, there are firepits, barbecues and chimeneas on hand for your use, and covered picnic huts for all-weather dining outside. There’s also plenty to do in the vicinity of the site, with Criccieth beaches five minutes’ drive, and the gateway to Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) 10 minutes away by car.

喜欢 Everything - the toilets were always clean and stocked, the pitches were large with parking alongside, owner was very friendly but gave us our own space - we will be back in the future! As some other reviews have said you can hear the road but it's not troublesome at all.

喜欢 We loved everything about it. Francis the owner is delightful who we met not long after arrival. Communication was fabulous instructions on line with our allocated tent spaces and how to find them as well as the facilities. My friend and I chose wild pitches/ 2 tents which was amazing as completely by ourself with no neighbours but a short distance to walk to the ablution block which was a lovely shepherds hut with a few showers and toilets very clean and comfortable.

喜欢 Fantastic quiet campsite, really nestled into nature and plenty of space and quiet to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature.

He doesn't feel overcrowded or cramped, and the woodland pitches were fantastic, with a bench and chimnea for each pitch to make use of. Amenities are new but have a fantastic rustic feel, and the showers are just set to the right temperature.

Fantastic campsite, lovely owners, if you get the chance to meet them and would definitely recommend the site. There's no WiFi but the size and space between pitches that should be expected.

喜欢 Fabulous site, plots well spaced out, dog field, on site walks, great shower and toilet block. Friendly hosts who have put a lot of effort into making this a near perfect site in our books. Greener camping club site, well deserved. We plan to return.

喜欢 Spotlessly clean facilities, plenty of space, great location. Really helpful owner who showed us the BBQs and advised us on where to go for fish and chips! We saw a heron at the campsite too as it was really quiet on our stay!

If you’re travelling with kids, wear them out on the inflatable floating climbing courses at Glasfryn Parc (15 minutes), or introduce them to the joys of steam-train travel with a ride through scenic Gwynedd countryside on the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway from Porthmadog (also 15 minutes). Sneak a little heritage into the holiday mix with a day out at the Italianate folly that is Portmeirion (20 minutes), where you can admire madcap colourful architecture or put your feet up in the spa. Tour the ramparts of Caernarfon Castle (25 minutes) for dramatic views over the River Seiont, or head for Harlech Castle (half an hour) to see jousting tournaments and take the informative self-guided tour of its towers and courtyards.
