The Dragons Back

The Dragons Back (formerly The Castle Inn), is a pub with B&B rooms Bunkhouses & Campsite. We are located in a stunning valley, over 1000ft above sea level in the heart of The Black Mountains, in The Brecon Beacons National Park. We’ve kept our campsite purposely low key. We don’t have a children’s playground, we don’t have a laundry, we don’t have room for massive tents (over 15 ft) or caravans, and we don’t have a shop. What do we have? Two clean loos, 1 good free shower,( the shower is hot only when the campsite is busy or the bunkhouse is occupied), great views, our pub next door (with good food, real ales and a warm welcome), and direct access to the Black Mountains – what more could you want?

We are ideally placed for a whole host of activities hiking,biking,gliding, fishing,canoeing, in fact if you can do it outside you can almost certainly do it here! You can walk onto The Black Mountains straight from the site, or start and finish The Killer Loop - the most demanding moutain bike route in the Brecon beacons. We are within a 15 min drive of Hay On Wye and Brecon.
