Cuddling up at a cosy cabin in the Ceredigion countryside – doesn’t that just sound like a lovely way to chill out for a couple of days? That’s exactly what’s on offer at Thistledown Glamping, where a single hand-crafted cabin provides a laidback but luxurious experience, in a wildflower meadow overlooking a pond.
This cute little cabin, going by the name of Wren, is an adults-only setup that’s been designed for two, although well-behaved dogs are welcome as well. The characterful decor includes a raised double bed, an indoor seating area and a kitchenette (with fridge, kettle, toaster and two-ring hob). The private bathroom is a short walk away, with a flushing toilet, a sink and a lovely rainfall shower.
Inside the cabin there’s a TV, heating and wifi connection for cosy evenings in – but you may well find that you’re more inclined to spend your time outside if the weather allows. The enclosed garden area has decking and a firepit, along with the real highlight: a private wood-fired hot tub where you can have a soak while stargazing. It’s cleaned and filled with fresh cold water for each new arrival, and provided with enough firewood for one heat-up per day (plan ahead if you want nice warm water – it takes two or three hours to heat up).
Heading out, you may like to stop at the local cheese shop and gin/whisky distillery for some goodies to take back to your cabin, or book into the local pub (five minutes’ drive) for top-notch meals. For days out, the beaches and dolphin-spotting boat trips of the Ceredigion coast are about 20 minutes’ drive away.
