If you’re setting off for Stirlingshire with your eye on finding lots of alfresco activities, you should certainly consider Cobleland Campsite as a base. A couple of miles south of Aberfoyle, this peaceful park is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. That setting means miles and miles of walking and cycling trails stretch out through the surrounding area, with fishing and golf close by too – and watersports, treetop trails, cliff jumping and the like for more intrepid guests. And in fact you don't have to travel far to get started on soaking up the spectacular scenery – you can simply stick around on site, where oak trees tower over the pitches and there’s a backdrop of pretty forest views with the River Forth running along one side of the site. Just beyond the river are paths taking you straight out into Loch Ard Forest for a woodland wander or a dog walk if you’ve brought your pet with you. The pitches at Cobleland are well tended and spacious, with access to all the essential amenities including a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal as well as bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled facilities. Aberfoyle (five minutes’ drive) has a small supermarket for supplies, plus several places to eat and drink.

喜欢: Lots of toilets, great dog walks, pizza van, being in the woods.

不喜欢: Lack of privacy. Pitches are Overlooked by glamping pod balcony. No hot water in toilet to wash your hands. Price of £29 for non electric pitch.

喜欢: Lovely campsite... lots of facilities close to van and the pizza van was amazing

不喜欢: Our pitch was pretty tight to get out especially as there was 2 campers straight in front of us.

喜欢: Like the look of the site as you drive in, it had a lovely vibe about it, pretty lights at the entrance around the trees gorgeous at night time, well stocked shop, great staff on reception at check in

喜欢: Cobleland camspie was a cracking find.. such a cosy feel around the site.. the owners of the site put alot of work and great thought into the atmosphere that is created around the site. Great amenities also coullbeans coffee and roll van is brilliant. Stirling pizza van is another great touch while camping. 👌 the owners are very pleasant and attentive. We will definitely return .

喜欢: Friendly staff, very willing to help. We booked wrong type of pitch (hardstanding), this was not a problem for the owner. Very quickly sorted us out with tent pitch on grass even though camp site was very busy. Good facilities and showers. Site very clean and tidy.

喜欢: The site was very pleasant and clean. The toilets and showers were in excellent condition. The little on site shop had most of the things you might need on a daily basis Lovely location by the river with lots of amenities not too far away. The coffee shop on site served a great breakfast roll.

不喜欢: Some of the pitches outside the meadows are a bit tight so could be hard for larger motorhomes to get into.

喜欢: Lovely host and friendly welcome. Unfortunately, the dryer was broken and after travelling from an equally wet location, we were hoping for some dry clothes. The host allowed us to hang our clothes in an unoccupied cabin porch but then someone took it down so we were left damp… Once the upper facilities were opened up, it was lovely and easy to use, but the first 2 nights was a long way for the amenities if you’re on the higher levels. The site is very easy access for some of the beautiful lochs and walks you will probably visit in this area and it’s nice and quiet at night.

Bring it along for action-packed days climbing Ben Lomond (40 minutes’ drive), tackling the high ropes courses at Go Ape Aberfoyle (10 minutes), quad biking, river tubing and archery at Action Adventure Activities (10 minutes) or paddleboarding, cliff jumping and a floating obstacle course at Go Country Adventure (15 minutes). Something a little more relaxing? How about fishing at Lake of Menteith (10 minutes), a round at Aberfoyle Golf Club (five minutes), a stroll along the Loch Ard sculpture trail (10 minutes) or an afternoon meandering along the seven-mile Three Lochs Forest Drive (five minutes)? You could also schedule a tour and whisky tasting at Glengoyne Distillery (15 minutes). A little further afield, you may like to mix in trips to the castle and National Wallace Monument in Stirling (half an hour), the amazing feat of engineering that is the Falkirk Wheel (50 minutes) or a day of museums and eating out in Glasgow (50 minutes).
