Don't fret about whether to focus on the choice of accommodation or the location of dog-friendly Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site in gorgeous East Lothian, for both are equally special. The location of the site is an excellent one, in the grounds of an old monastery with plenty of space and partial views of the Firth of Forth from some parts. Variety is key here: you can have urban or rural days out. Edinburgh is in one direction (and accessible by bus or train) and the East Lothian coast and countryside in the other – the Edinburgh to Prestonpans section of the 134-mile path John Muir Way passes within five minutes of the site entrance. More? The sands and shoreline of the coast are a few miles away, it's 25 minutes' drive to popular North Berwick, and there's even a golf club (the Royal Musselburgh) right next door… Like the accommodation and grounds, the Drummohr amenities are modern, clean and well maintained by Angie and her team: there are two refurbished tiled shower and toilet blocks with chemical disposal, accessible family bathrooms with baths, an indoor campers' kitchen with vending machines, and a fully equipped laundry room with metered facilities. Drinking water points and waste disposal are both close to the spacious pitches and there's a licensed shop selling local produce and essentials on site too. Final little touches? How about a playground, a dog-walking area and the option to hire firepits to keep you warm on chillier evenings…

喜欢 The lady at reception was very friendly and patient and explained everything clearly. A gentleman also showed us the parking spot and around the site. Although it’s newly opened, everything was well organised and had all the facilities we needed, including water, electricity, and easy access to two bathrooms and toilets.

喜欢 I arrived and was welcomed by the staff at reception, Kenny then arrived and drove me to my site were he explained everything. I even attended a wedding while staying in a tent, so they had iron and ironing board that helped my suit not look like it had been stuffed in with my tent. I used the laundry, campers kitchen and showers, everything was clean and tidy. Having the kitchen facility was good as i flew over and didn't have any gas. Overall highly reccomend, i would get the train over the bus into town is my only addition. Thanks to everyone, hopefully ill get back at some point.

喜欢 Partial refund was swift but shouldn't have been required.

不喜欢 On arrival we were turned away due to not having a side window in our campervan. Apparently the booking process now states converted campers must meet a DVLA standard, but it is not particuarly clear what that standard is and wasn't there when we booked 4 months ago. The owner wasn't prepared to find an alternative spot on site or allow us to use a tent instead. Seems suspiciously like they over booked and found an excuse to turn us away. Whilst the refund was prompt it left us stranded unable to stay near Edinburgh for the 4 nights we planned and we lost the PitchUp deposit.

Bothy 露营舱 (禁止携带宠物, 豪华)

喜欢 The site was in a quiet location and the grounds were tidy and other residents respectful and quiet, the shop was needed for milk etc

不喜欢 The Bothy was described as Deluxe, but it was very tired, the bed was two singles pushed together which created a gap, and the mattress very hard and uncomfortable, I left with backache and didn’t sleep at all for two nights. Cobwebs everywhere, inside and on the decking, and the wooden decking and doorstep were filthy and not mopped. No hot water to wash your dishes, there were towels & crockery, yet it stared to bring your own? As the websites had differing descriptions, I did message to clarify, but had no response. There was also a hot plate to cook on, but that wasn’t mentioned, so we had to make do with the microwave meals we’d resigned ourselves too after a long drive. The website needs to be updated. I felt the price of £250 for two nights, even in August, was far too much and left feeling ‘grubby’ instead of ‘deluxe’ I bet the ‘standard’ Bothy was no different and would have cost less. Very disappointing, I booked deluxe for a bit of luxury, but it wasn’t there. We would stay at the site again but only with a camper or a tent, as the grounds were well kept and it was a friendly quiet site, ideal for visiting the area but unfortunately we found the bothy very tired, dirty and not deluxe :(

喜欢 Great stay on this lovely site. Lovely toilets and shower facilities (loved the constant music), really close to bus stop to Edinburgh city centre (bus runs through the night too). The staff were extremely helpful.

The local bus to the festival city of Edinburgh (25 minutes' drive) runs every 10 minutes during the day, every 20 minutes in the evenings, and every hour at night; the journey takes about 40 minutes. The train from Wallyford runs every hour and takes 10 minutes. There are numerous things to see and do in excellent Edinburgh, but if you're only spending one or two days there, recommended options are the castle, Holyrood Palace, the National Museum of Scotland and the zoo (which has first-class views of the city). Elsewhere, Drummohr's location makes it easy to get to all types of days out around the coast and countryside: golf courses, historic houses and stately homes. The Prestongrange Industrial Heritage Museum (five minutes) has free entry and is a few minutes' walk from the park. Musselburgh (also five minutes) has a lovely walk along the John Muir Way. Other recommended trips nearby include Tantallon Castle (35 minutes) on its headland overlooking the Firth of Forth, trailing nature in John Muir Country Park (25 minutes) or the Lammermuir Hills (40 minutes), an afternoon among the gardens at Tyninghame House (25 minutes), or taking a boat ride around Bass Rock (half an hour to the North Berwick ferry) to see the gannet colony. If the Bass Rock boat ride gets you pondering more about the winged life of the area, the Scottish Seabird Centre is also in pretty seaside North Berwick. At nearby Dunbar (25 minutes), about 60 breeding pairs of kittiwakes are found near the harbour, and nearby East Links Family Park is child-friendly.
