Small and simple SecretScapes is a place that lives up to its name, with just a couple of pitches at a hillside working croft with a forest backdrop. Hidden away above Urquhart Bay, this is a peaceful spot indeed, with stunning views over Loch Ness about five minutes' walk away. Not content with seeing the loch from afar? Wander a short way down the Great Glen Way (which passes through the croft) to reach the shoreline for a closer look, then head over to Drumnadrochit, two miles away, for the Loch Ness Experience. Boat trips and canoe hire are available nearby if you'd like to get out on the water, or you can stay on land to visit Urquhart Castle (10 minutes' drive away). Looking a little further afield, you'll be able to use the speedy A82 (which connects with the croft's access track) to get to Inverness in about 25 minutes, before continuing on to Culloden Battlefield. Facilities on site are minimal, with guests having access to a water supply, a fridge and a freezer but no toilets, showers or electrical connections. You're welcome to bring along a barbecue or firepit, and put up your awning or gazebo for a bit of shelter.
