Cor, you'll wish your Grannie’s home was as cool as this: slap bang on the beachfront, with an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and sauna, tennis courts and Costa coffee on tap… Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame Holiday Park sits beside the powdery white sands of Embo beach near the historic town of Dornoch, in prime position for a romp around the Scottish Highlands. If you’re bringing the family, rest assured that the chances of the little ones getting bored are slim to none. Aside from the pool- and beach-based shenanigans, there’s mini ten-pin bowling, crazy golf, an amusement arcade, kids’ clubs featuring the Starland Krew, plus a great adventure playground with a zipwire, swings and slides. Older children and teens can get stuck into making their own animated movies or hit the decks at a DJ workshop in the Freestyle club. 喜欢 Location is good. Next to Dornoch beautiful town that’s worth a visit

不喜欢 Disgusting toilet/shower block facilities we may as well have just wild camped. Dirty and filthy smelling. Not surprised now why they aren’t shown in the pictures. Very disappointed as this was the most expensive pitch up of our full NC509 trip. No quiet time respected.

不喜欢 1 toilet block for the whole camp / touring site, not ideal especially when there is a second toilet block that would facilitate the camping side of things that has been closed / condemned for years and nothing done about it. I have stayed at this site many times and in all my years of camping / touring I cannot remember this additional toilet block being open.

The bar prices were more expensive than the beer festival that was the reason that I stayed at the campsite for. Everything in the bar drinks wise is expensive.

不喜欢 Bought bingo tickets and there was far too much noise. The staff had to constantly tell people to keep the noise down.
The facilities were not clean and not enough of them for the size of the place.
There was no number 40 on the post. It had been knocked off. Difficult to find pitch and far too close together. No tarmac to walk on between campers either.
The whole establishment needs an overhaul . I won’t be recommending it to anyone.

不喜欢 Toilet blocks weren't cleaned while we were there and I doubt they were cleaned prior. Looks like they cut the grass more often than clean the toilets and showers.
Receptionist lied when we were booking in saying that the two pitches I'd booked couldn't be next to each other due to how busy the site was - the one next to where I ended up was empty.
There doesn't seem to be any enforcement of a noise curfew I was kept awake until 2am by music and loud chatting and singing. There's places you can camp if you want to do that but I don't think a family site is the place.
When we went swimming the edges of the pool were coming off. Came clean off when another user held it for support.
There also doesn't seem to be a cut off time for set ups, listening to people arriving and blowing airbeds up at 10.30pm was a nice way to spend our last night there.
I know its not guaranteed but don't rely on the WiFi even the paid for one

Dornoch, the pretty little town nearest to Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame Holiday Park, has a range of small independent shops, a cathedral dating back to 1224 and one of the best championship golf courses in the world. Otherwise, if you fancy a day trip, there’s a decent variety of things to do nearby. For a fairytale castle with a French flavour, take a tour of Dunrobin Castle, which stages falconry displays twice daily in its beautiful grounds; Black Isle Wildlife Park has child-pleasing meerkats, lemurs and zebras; whisky lovers can wet their whistle at the Glenmorangie Distillery; and the spectacular waterfalls at Falls of Shin are one of the best places in Scotland to see salmon feats of derring-do as the fish leap upstream between May and September, or to go geocaching, walking and cycling along the forest trails. If you don’t mind travelling a bit further, it’s an easy drive to classic destinations such as John O’Groats, Loch Ness and Ullapool.
