Looking for a fine place to get your seaside fix? Get straight to it at Lighthouse Leisure. This family-friendly site is positioned 100 metres from the sea and two minutes’ walk from the historic Southerness Lighthouse, where there’s a footpath that goes to Southerness beach and Powillimount beach in the other direction. What might your days look like here? Well, you might want to go sea fishing along the coast or choose from the selection of lochs and rivers inland. There’s a golf course just 10 minutes’ walk from the site when you fancy a round, or other golf courses within a 15 mile radius of the site. As for your holiday wanders, there are both coastal and forest walks in the surrounding area. Those of you who prefer to tackle the land on two wheels can also find cycling trails in the surrounding area, especially at 7Stanes: Dalbeattie, 20 minutes’ drive away. The site itself is well-maintained with tarred roads and next door to a well-stocked shop for all your supplies. There’s a regular bus service from the village to Dumfries that takes 40 minutes and stops at other villages on the route. As a family-friendly place, plenty of attention has been paid to kids’ entertainment too – that includes an adventure playground and a leisure complex with a swimming pool (which must be booked in advance), café, entertainment room, family bar and adults-only bar. The site has been in operation for nearly 50 years and being family owned, it has built up a well-established, warm and friendly atmosphere. Dogs are welcome too, good news for those of you with a furry friend.

喜欢 Toilet and shower facilities were basic but always clean and easy to get to. Beach close by and great for exploring with the kids a lillte mucky so be prepared if you have children with you but that didn't spoil pur fun.

不喜欢 Very noisy site not ideal for getting young children to sleep. Loud music and karaoke blasting out from two separate bars one on site and the other across the road. Drunk people walking around on site loudly through to the early hours of the morning. Very little sleep was had.

Thank you for your review. Sorry to hear that you not enjoy your stay.
Regarding noise, July and August is a high season and our village is really busy.
Regarding loud music and karaoke, on our site we have got live music entertainment thru school holiday. We are informing about 'what's on' on Mermaid Bar facebook. Entertainment finishing around 11pm. Bar which have got karaoke is not ours and we can't control it.
When you booked touring pitch, you informed us that you have got kids with you and we put you on the farthest plot from Mermaid Bar.
Regarding drunk people, unfortunately we can't take responsibility for their behaviour.

喜欢 Lots of character and plenty to do for the family. Great little place. Loved it. Great location, friendly staff and lovely people.

不喜欢 The beach is close but not nice, suggest you trek for 3k to get to the nicest parts of the beach.

喜欢 Liked facilities very clean, there's a couple of bars with tables outside ,you can get food, site is clean and couple of mins from beach

不喜欢 Tents are crambed together also campers and also let large groups of younge men book together.it was really really noisy until 2 in the morning families with small children wouldn't advise a lot of people I spoke to were leaving early

Sharpen up your cheese-making skills at the Cream o' Galloway Ice Cream Parlour (50 minutes) or join in with chocolate experiences at The Cocoabean Company (45 minutes). History aficionado? Top sites include Sweetheart Abbey (15 minutes), a Cistercian monastery, or Gretna Green Famous Blacksmiths Shop (an hour), a site of historic runaway marriages. Also within striking distance is John Paul Jones Birthplace Cottage and Museum (10 minutes) and Dumfries (half an hour), where there are museums, Caerlaverock Castle and the Robert Burns Centre. New Abbey Corn Mill (15 minutes) runs seasonal demonstrations. Any birdwatchers can flock to RSPB Mersehead (10 minutes), bargain hunters to the Gretna Gateway Outlet Village (an hour), and beach seekers to Rockcliffe (20 minutes).
