It's a rural outlook indeed at Mollance Farm Campsite, where you’ll wake up to lake views and and often spot wildlife (such as red kites, moorhens, hares and deer) around the place as well as the farm animals that call this livestock farm home permanently. Despite this deeply rural outlook, it’s remarkably easy to get to this corner of the Dumfries & Galloway countryside, as Mollance Farm is just off the A75 for easy journeys in, out and all about. That also means it’s convenient to get to places like Castle Douglas (less than 10 minutes’ drive away) for fuel, restaurants and foodie supplies. There’s a supermarket here, but this foodie town is primarily known for its 50 or so independent businesses, so it’s worth taking the time to explore those for a good taste of the area. Elsewhere nearby you can take it easy with beach days and strolls around historic sites or up the adrenaline levels with a whole lot of adventure activities including the 7Stanes mountain bike trails at Dalbeattie (15 minutes’ drive). Whichever approach you opt for, you’ll be coming back to an adults-only site where the touring pitches are sizeable enough to accommodate any size of caravan or motorhome, plus a car and an awning. Toilet and shower facilities are provided, and maintained to a high standard of appearance and cleanliness. Dogs are welcome but will need to be kept on a lead so they don’t upset the livestock.

喜欢 Nice well kept site just off the A75 but pitches are far enough away for little or no road noise. Toilet block is lovely, loads of space and everything you need in one individual room.

喜欢 Location was good. Facilities excellent - having individual toilets and bathrooms together. Each pitch is nice and secluded. On site food was a nice touch.

不喜欢 Some gruffness was received from owners for walking our dogs to the food van, something that another person also did after us, despite no signage to the contrary. The reason given was that their own dogs weren't friendly, which is absolutely fine, but signage would avoid any awkward conversations with customers.

Close to Castle Douglas.
Decent size shower & toilet.

不喜欢 Toilets not cleaned and bins not emptied whilst we were there for a 2 night stay. Didn't see any staff/owners on site.

喜欢 The space of the pitches was lovelly and the lady and gent were very welcoming.

不喜欢 See through glass doors on the toilets and shower? Everyone was very uncomfortable with this although frosted you can still see people !

The farm dogs running at you and your dog barking and chasing them anytime you moved. The dogs are also free roaming so would run up to your awning barking at your dogs and you.

Showers were lovely if you was lucky enough to get hot water. Not many people on site but still had many a stone cold shower and being disabled this made my day very uncomfortable / difficult

Tried morning and night and from 7 days there was two hot showers. Ok if you didn’t mind having to turn the shower off to wait for it to drain halfway through. (Both showers )

喜欢 Lovely peaceful rural location, easy access off the main road, large level pitches, clean WC/shower facilities, drive over grey waste disposal & chemical waste empty.

不喜欢 Minor details, but the bins were full and the signage into and on the site isn't great.

Your first visit around here should be to the atmospheric ruin a short walk away in the farm grounds – it’s been there since the late 19th century. Once you’ve seen that, set off to see some more of the area’s history at Cairn Holy (half an hour’s drive), a set of neolithic chambers that are more than 4000 years old, and Threave Castle (10 minutes), built in 1369. More in the mood for activity? Take your mountain bikes to the downhill trails of 7Stanes: Dalbeattie (15 minutes), or head over to Galloway Activity Centre (20 minutes) for things like watersports, high ropes courses, laser tag and a go on the wobbly waterpark. For more chilled-out days, take a walk along the plant-filled paths of Broughton House & Garden (20 minutes), look out for big birds at the Red Kite Centre, Laurieston (15 minutes) or hit the beach – Rockcliffe, Sandyhills and Dalavan beaches are all around 20 minutes away, and all good options for a day out (and they’re dog friendly too).
