Want to see how the other half lives? Pack a bag and park yourself in the walled garden at Paxton House Caravan Park. This Berwickshire pile was built in the Palladian style in 1763 for a nobleman who planned to live in it, then inherited a castle and moved there instead. Staying in this small park on the 80 acres of grounds, visitors can take in this popular landmark at their leisure, with river walks and boat trips down the Tweed and/or by delving into the history of the house and its collections of art and furniture. The kids can let off steam on the adventure playground and follow woodland trails to discover wildlife and maybe encounter a fairy or two. For practical things like pubs and grub and shops, as well as sandy beaches, estuary walks, ruins, sea safaris and fishing trips, Berwick-upon-Tweed is a brilliantly convenient 10 minutes' drive away.

喜欢 Spacious pitches,very peaceful and clean site. Although not ad ertised thr toiley and shower facilities were superb.
Plenty of walks direct from the site. We will definitely return.

喜欢 Well laid out pitches with plenty of space around each. Walled garden location is very pretty.
Paxton House itself is well worth a guided tour and the staff are lovely.

不喜欢 There is a toilet/ shower block of two rooms, each self contained toilet and shower. Showers were not hot and rooms unheated.
There is no pot washing facility.
Improvements here would move a very good site to an excellent one.

来自经理: Thank you for your feedback and for choosing to stay with us. We do not advertise that we have a toilet block and shower or a pot wash facility as we feel that they are inadequate for a site with 30 pitches.
There is an electric heater in the opposite corner to each shower. The electric showers have been checked and are functioning. If the ambient air temperature is low and the flow is high, the temperature of the water reaching you will be lower, but reducing the flow by selecting eco or low increases the temperature, so this is worth a try. We are looking to improve the facilities for next year as we want the whole customer experience to be excellent.

喜欢 spacious pitch, plenty of room for our dog, lovely planting around borders, staff in shop very pleasant and helpful

喜欢 Plenty of space between pitches. Lovely quite site in beautiful surroundings. Easy to access. Good refuse area etc.
There are 2x accessible toilets which have accessible showers in them. But no one on site used them. These toilets and showers aren't regularly cleaned hence the adverts saying you need to be self contained.

不喜欢 The only reason this doesnt get 10 stars is because of the waste disposal for the toilet cassette. Its a very small hole to aim the cassette at and there are holes in the funnel so all the brown waste water ends up in the area you are standing in. Very unsatisfactory.

Not a problem for us but a van did turn up after 5pm and no one was answering the phones. They sat trying for what seemed like an hour.

喜欢 Lovely site. Beautiful contained walled garden. Caravan pitch on gravel, awning on grass. Parking space for car is tight in front of the caravan. Great walks straight from the site. Lovely local pub too. There are only two toilets with a shower inside. They were very clean. Will definitely come back

History is never far away in these parts, and the glimpses you’ll get of Lindisfarne, half an hour's drive away, will doubtless lure you out during your stay. Wild and peaceful, the ruins of the priory and the castle point to the long and turbulent human past of the place, while the colonies of puffins and waders carry on regardless. Check tide times if heading out by car; boat trips to and around make a leisurely way to visit with seal and puffin spotting possibilities en route. There are many more castles to peruse, if that’s your penchant: Bamburgh, still occupied but open to visitors, is half an hour’s drive away. Despite being 700 years old, Alnwick (45 minutes) is also still home to the descendants of its original owners and a must-see for JK Rowling fans as the film location for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The little villages of Beadnell and Seahouses (45 minutes away) form the gateway to the Northumbria Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a sea-hugging zone stuffed with chances to go rockpooling and paddleboarding, plus coastal paths and bike trails as well as a haven for wildflowers and (yes, really) wild cattle. Half an hour’s drive gets you to the edge of Northumbria National Park, packed with Roman remains, climbing in the Cheviot Hills and paths around Kielder Water. Further afield, the museums, culture, lively pubs and (of course) the castle of Edinburgh are very doable for a day trip, an hour and 20 minutes away.
