If you’re looking to grab some rural Aberdeenshire couples’ time in glorious isolation, Bonnie Wee Neuk, 10 minutes’ drive from sleepy Laurencekirk, might just be the place for you. Tucked away in a peaceful meadow on a 120-acre farm, there’s virtually no passing traffic as the road ends on the property, and you’re welcome to explore the farm, discover its woodland and riverside walks, and meet the animals too.
The cabin interior is nicely laid out with a double bed (all linens are provided), a smartly decorated ensuite shower room and an open-plan living space with a kitchen corner equipped with all the essentials from crockery to a microwave, a dining table, comfortable sofa and TV. There’s also a radiator to take the chill off winter evenings.
Outside, a small patio has a table, chairs and a firepit for rustling up alfresco meals; a first lot of fuel is included in the price. In short, Bonnie Wee Neuk has everything you need for a cosy break in the Scottish countryside. If you need to stock up on supplies, there are a couple of convenience stores in Laurencekirk, which also has a restaurant and takeaway.
There’s plenty of wildlife to see on site, including roe deer and brown hares on the meadow; a barn owl nests in a box opposite the cabin. Bervie Water runs close by, and in season you can fish for salmon and trout.
