Picky about how close you stay to the beach? Well, Unity Beach in Somerset is just a couple of minutes' walk away from the beach in Brean, and it's not the only pick in the locale: Burnham-on-Sea beach is a 15-minute drive away, and Weston Super Mare beach is 25 minutes away. On the park, there are bathrooms (with loos, hot showers and underfloor heating), a play area and a fishing lake, as well as direct access to Brean Leisure Park. Guests at Unity Beach get a 50% discount on all of the following leisure park locations: the mammoth Brean Splash waterpark (open during high season only) with indoor and outdoor splash zones, flumes and waterslides; the Brean Play indoor play centre with areas for babies, toddlers and kids up to 11; and Brean Golf Club with 18 holes set around 100 acres of meadow. Guests also get discounted tokens/wristbands for Brean Theme Park's rides and amusements. Once your appetite has been properly worked up with all of those activities, sink down in a seat at one of the several on-park restaurants, snack bars or cafés serving cooked breakfasts, steak, ribs, pizza, kids' meals, takeaways or ice cream during high season – and you might very much like the sound of cocktails served in a fish bowl at American-themed diner RJs…

Miles away from the pool and entertainment
Showers were dirty and boiling hot pitches very close
Outdoor pools and slides closed we weren’t told this when we booked

喜欢 The staff. The wardens. The facilities. The field set ups. The theme park. The restaurants. The free soft play. Just everything.

不喜欢 Only that the on site supermarket ran low on stock and the pizza takeaway was sold out of pizzas. Got a chippy instead. Also didn’t know that we had to book the swimming splash park which was a shame as it was full. Would have booked it before we went if we knew. And soft play was hot inside

不喜欢 Arrived just after 6pm - followed signs to holiday reception (touring reception signs did not point to anywhere) - arrived at holiday reception to find that it closed at 6pm. The tel. number on the door just went to a message saying we are closed and contact security but no number for security. Drove around the site but the signs still pointed to holiday reception. Luckily I managed to attract the attention of a waitress that was clearing tables inside and she pointed us in the right direction. Without her help we would not have found the right entrance. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR SIGNAGE We had a good stay but finding the touring reception was a nightmare and there was another couple trying to find it too - with the same problem - they followed us eventually.

喜欢 How easy it was to check in, friendly staff given a map to show where to go next. Met the friendly wardens who showed us to our pitch explained everything we needed to know and left us to it. Toilets and showers area were nice and clean. Park was great for kids all ages.Bit of a walk for kids to get to the evening entertainment worth taking there scooters or bikes to help with little legs.

不喜欢 Having booked a swimming beforehand for 2 adults 1 child and printed vouchers for swimming we were told we needed our holiday passes to get in I didn’t have mine as I left purse in van I couldn’t get in without it and would have to walk all the way back to van to get it which I wasn’t prepared to do as it’s only 90 minutes slot hubby had to miss out even though we paid up front so wasn’t happy at all for this take you passes everywhere you go as they won’t let you in our let you play bingo.

If you do decide to venture off site (no-one would blame you for a second if you didn't), the best sights of Somerset are within a quick drive. Gorge out on the views of Cheddar Gorge and Caves ten miles away – it's not at all cheesy to state these are among the best in Britain – and take the kids to meet the witch of Wookey Hole Caves within 15 miles, both among the most-visited attractions in the county. Glastonbury is also rather gorgeous and has been visited for aeons by peeps interested in legend and history who come to have a look at Glastonbury Abbey, steeped in stories of King Arthur, and Glastonbury Tor, possibly (you might like to think so anyway) the entrance to the land of the fairies. Learn all about the legends and the Iron Age history of the town at the Glastonbury Lake Village Museum in the fifteenth century merchant's house on Glastonbury High Street; the tourist information centre is here too to see what else to spy nearby. Seasidewise, take a day each at Brean, Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare: the first for the tropical bird garden on Brean Down and the dunes running seven miles to Burnham; the second to look at the lighthouses and stroll off into the Somerset Levels, and the third for its whirly good helicopter museum and Grand Pier. Inland, land at teeny city Wells for a day sightseeing around its cathedral and stonkingly spectacular medieval bishop's palace, moat and gardens, or have a day among the hiking trails and bridleways of Exmoor.
