Picky about how close you stay to the beach? Well, Unity Beach in Somerset is just a couple of minutes' walk away from the beach in Brean, and it's not the only pick in the locale: Burnham-on-Sea beach is a 15-minute drive away, and Weston Super Mare beach is 25 minutes away. On the park, there are bathrooms (with loos, hot showers and underfloor heating), a play area and a fishing lake, as well as direct access to Brean Leisure Park. Guests at Unity Beach get a 50% discount on all of the following leisure park locations: the mammoth Brean Splash waterpark (open during high season only) with indoor and outdoor splash zones, flumes and waterslides; the Brean Play indoor play centre with areas for babies, toddlers and kids up to 11; and Brean Golf Club with 18 holes set around 100 acres of meadow. Guests also get discounted tokens/wristbands for Brean Theme Park's rides and amusements. Once your appetite has been properly worked up with all of those activities, sink down in a seat at one of the several on-park restaurants, snack bars or cafés serving cooked breakfasts, steak, ribs, pizza, kids' meals, takeaways or ice cream during high season – and you might very much like the sound of cocktails served in a fish bowl at American-themed diner RJs…

不喜欢 Lack of room on touring pitches. Everything was an extra cost even disabled parking to get closer to the main area. The golf buggies were horrendous & shouldn’t be allowed to go so fast.

喜欢 The facilities and entertainment for families are excellent.
Everything is surprisingly reasonably priced for a british campsite.

不喜欢 The camping area is 1 mile from the pool and bars, walking that a few times a day with kids is a real pain and obviously we can't drive if we've had a drink so it would be nice if the train ran regularly and on time, even if there was a small charge.
Having to pay £5 for parking at the pool area when we've already paid to be on site is a bit of a pisstake.

喜欢 Great entertainment for the kids. Site was mostly clean with the exception of dog poo here and there, but that's down to the dogs owners. Some toilet and shower locks needed replacing. I definitely recommend it.

不喜欢 Very surprised at how expensive the Internet was. As overseas visitors with 4 phones between us it was going to cost ridiculous money to use the Internet and had to rely on international roaming.

喜欢 We were the only foreign visitors at the campsite, but it was surprisingly easy to figure out all the practical arrangements. The information provided was clear and easy to understand, and the pitch we were allocated fully met our expectations. The toilet facilities were also good, and there were plenty of them for all guests.

不喜欢 The biggest downside was unfortunately the cleanliness and the general maintenance of the site. We came across cotton buds, old balloons and plastic litter in several areas. Directly in front of our pitch was a small stream that was unfortunately filled with old rubbish. I assume that much of it has been blown there over time, but it still left a poor impression. Overall, it did not feel as though enough was being done to keep the area clean and inviting.

The toilet buildings were functional, but they looked quite dated and would benefit from some refurbishment. The dishwashing facilities were also less than ideal. Only one of the four taps worked satisfactorily, while the other three required you to keep the button pressed continuously to maintain the water flow. Once again, this gave the impression of facilities that are in need of maintenance.

The camping area itself was essentially a large grassy field. More trees, bushes and green spaces would make the site feel much more welcoming while also providing some shelter from the wind, which is often quite strong in this part of England.

We were also surprised by how reserved the English guests generally were. It was not easy to strike up conversations with other campers. Of course, this is not something the campsite can be held responsible for, but organised activities such as bingo, quiz nights or activities for children might help create more of a sense of community and make the stay even more enjoyable.

不喜欢 This site felt like they only wanted to get as many people on site for the money we asked for a disabled part as I am disabled payed extra was put anywhere went for 3 nights and 4 days came home after 2 nights didn't like it at all my daughter in law tried to get my grandchildren into water park every day and they said fully booked my advice to anyone is don't entertain this park stay away

喜欢 Great resort, lido was fantastic, entertainment team were brilliant, had a lovely time.

不喜欢 If im being picky, there was radio/music playing in the toilet block all night which I could hear from our pitch but we were very close to the toilet block, was only annoying if you woke through the night though.

不喜欢 We didn’t stay the full 2 days due to no sleep. A group of young people kept us awake all night. Tried contacting security but no answer on the 24hour number.

If you do decide to venture off site (no-one would blame you for a second if you didn't), the best sights of Somerset are within a quick drive. Gorge out on the views of Cheddar Gorge and Caves ten miles away – it's not at all cheesy to state these are among the best in Britain – and take the kids to meet the witch of Wookey Hole Caves within 15 miles, both among the most-visited attractions in the county. Glastonbury is also rather gorgeous and has been visited for aeons by peeps interested in legend and history who come to have a look at Glastonbury Abbey, steeped in stories of King Arthur, and Glastonbury Tor, possibly (you might like to think so anyway) the entrance to the land of the fairies. Learn all about the legends and the Iron Age history of the town at the Glastonbury Lake Village Museum in the fifteenth century merchant's house on Glastonbury High Street; the tourist information centre is here too to see what else to spy nearby. Seasidewise, take a day each at Brean, Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare: the first for the tropical bird garden on Brean Down and the dunes running seven miles to Burnham; the second to look at the lighthouses and stroll off into the Somerset Levels, and the third for its whirly good helicopter museum and Grand Pier. Inland, land at teeny city Wells for a day sightseeing around its cathedral and stonkingly spectacular medieval bishop's palace, moat and gardens, or have a day among the hiking trails and bridleways of Exmoor.
