Looking for the best of both worlds with seclusion and family activities to suit a range of crowds? Carve out the way to Woodlands Campsite, a private site in the middle of the Dorset countryside. Two miles from the small village of Wool and an easy 10-minute drive from Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, you’ll be excellently positioned for all things fossil hunting, coastal walks and beach days… Your new base is situated in a tranquil setting surrounded by three acres of meadows. Access to the site is via a private gated entrance that leads into a large open area of green space fringed by trees (so, there’s plenty of greenery to wake up to each day). Carefully-tended barbecues and well-behaved dogs are also welcome at this friendly and laidback site. Woodlands Campsite, which has flushing toilets and a free shower block with hot water, would be well-suited to families who are looking to maximise their time in the surrounding area at a no-nonsense rural campsite. For a range of handy village amenities, steer yourself in the direction of Wool (five minutes' drive). There’s a shop for picking up supplies, or you could catch a train down to Bournemouth or Weymouth from the station or taste test the local ales at the pub.

- When it wasn’t busy (first 2 nights out of 3) was really lovely, quiet and spacious
- Location - quiet, central and near a lot of tourist attractions (driving distance) nice central base
- Clean facilities and cleaned often

不喜欢 - Not enough facilities - one single toilet, one single shower and one toilet & shower together. Last night there waited 15 minutes for the single toilet as someone was showering in the other joint one.
- Pitches too close together. Advised on arrival the back field wasn’t open so everyone in the front field and very on top of each other when it got busy and full on Saturday night. Compared to the first two nights you couldn’t hear the others on site the last night was incredibly loud.
- Website stated no groups and one tent per pitch (so we didn’t bring our event shelter for cooking) however Saturday night two small groups with multiple tents. Meant it was louder and more compact for everyone to fit in including cars on pitches.

喜欢 Nice grass pitch, clean toilet and shower. The chickens kept the girls entertained and everyone around was friendly. Easy to find, Mark the owner was extremely helpful and pleasant. Happy to come back.

喜欢 Excellent stay at the woodlands campsite. Really friendly and laid back host. Great campsite in an excellent location. All of the facilities were well maintained and couldn’t fault it.

喜欢 Me and my friends booked 3 separate pitches. Mark was lovely and let us all camp next to each other after letting him know we would be together as a group. The campsite was great, toilets/ shower were clean. The site was quiet and a great location. Would highly recommend!

喜欢 La proximité des animaux, la localisation du camping près de la côte et des choses à voir, le gérant très sympa, les batteries de recharge de téléphone.

喜欢 - lots of nature to look at.
- toilets and showers were well stocked and clean
- decent sized pitches
- remote (no noise pollution)
- helpful and friendly staff
- showers and sinks provided hot and cold water almost immediately

不喜欢 - not much light along main path at night. (Minor)
- main walk path was used by cars so was very muddy and waterlogged when it rained. (Minor)

What Jurassic coast wonders might you want to indulge in from Woodlands Campsite? Lulworth Cove (10 minutes’ drive) is a wise place to start, especially if you’re impartial to coasteering, swimming or hiking to caves, blow holes and other coves. Ticking off Durdle Door (10 minutes) is a big one too – just don’t forget to snap a selfie in front of the arches before heading for the sand. If you prefer to start with a little history, Lulworth Castle (10 minutes) has a grand look, and the grounds make a rather excellent picnic setting. There are hilltop ruins at Corfe Castle (15 minutes) and war tanks at The Tank Museum (10 minutes), or to pretend you're travelling back in the old days, there are steam train rides departing from Harman's Cross Station (15 minutes). Visiting a Dorset ghost village could also form a part of your plan - Tyneham (20 minutes) was left to its own devices in the war in 1943, and parts have been left untouched since. You may wish to return to the coast for a snorkelling session over the corals at Kimmeridge Bay (20 minutes). There's plenty of plant life to admire at the Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens (40 minutes) too. If you'd rather watch monkeys in action, head to Monkey World (10 minutes).
