‘See, that’s how good little ducklings do it,’ you can say hopefully to the kids as they watch the baby birds obediently waddle after mum around the park: Sandyholme Holiday Park’s (fenced) wildlife pond with its flocks of geese and ducks is a big favourite with ducklings of all ages. As is the peaceful location and the chilled atmosphere, as you let any thoughts of work roll away from you like water off a duck’s back… The park is tucked in a secluded location on the edge of the villages of Owermoigne and Moreton, surrounded by trees and with the Tadnoll Brook river flowing past the park. The amenities are equally excellent here, too: clean showers and toilets, a play area, a picnic area and a playing field are all on site, as is a reception area with a small shop. While you're up at reception, have a chat with the friendly, knowledgeable staff for info on walks and things to do nearby for the whole family – this is a handy location for visiting the Isle of Purbeck and Jurassic Coast, so they may well point you towards the likes of Corfe Castle, Durdle Door and the beaches at Ringstead Bay or Weymouth. Country pubs, farm shops and nature reserves are all nearby too, so feel free to take tips on those too. Guests at Sandyholme can also use the facilities at fellow West Dorset Leisure Holidays site Highlands End Holiday Park 18 miles west for a small charge: take your pick from an indoor pool, sauna/steam room or pitch and putt, before getting your beaks twitching at the meals in the family bar.

喜欢 Loved the toilet and showers, very clean and showers were heavenly, washing machine was a decent size(large load), park was peaceful and friendly, great for star gazing, information area was great. We will be back!!

The meadows field is large and you chose where to pitch up,
Toilets and shower facilities are clean and to a good standered
There is a small play park for younger children and a play field

喜欢 Sandyholme is a great holiday park. The camping area was well maintained with short grass and the gravel roads and paths well maintained. The campsite was quite and there was good space between tents. The managers were very friendly and helpful. All the facilities were clean and easy to access, loved the football pitch and totem tennis and area for the dog to run freely. It is well located to access all the local tourist sites.

不喜欢 The only drawback were the toilets near the tent area were not maintained to the same standard as the main toilet/shower area. I didn't use the showers here so cannot coment on those.

喜欢 Great being able to park up where ever you like, gated holiday park, spacious. Close to Weymouth and durdle door.

不喜欢 Facilities are not great, mixed gender toilet block in camping field which was smelly, water randomly stoped on two days once mid shower and another time shower wouldn’t turn on in family shower room, reception closed so unable to contact anyone. Not quiet at night for small children trying to get to sleep.

喜欢 We stayed in the furthest field. It was spacious, flat and really quiet. Great for kids. The main block facilities were good, clean and modern. Staff were friendly. Nice touch with the pizza and bar vans at the entrance.

不喜欢 It was quite a walk to the main facilities from the field that we stayed in. The field next to us had a portable shower/toilet area which was not always very clean and extremely busy. It would have been useful if the furthest field where we stayed had their own toilet area to reduce the use of the portable area and also the walk to amenities. The showers in both blocks were temperamental. A couple of times whilst showering in the main block the water totally turned off mid shower and didn’t start again meaning my children weren’t able to finish their shower and were covered in soap.

Beaminster, Dorchester and Sherborne are good additional options for maxing out the credit cards with handcrafted goodies and shops to suit all tastes and budgets. The seaside town of Weymouth is just one of many to spend a day or afternoon in, following in the watery steps of George III who came here 14 times in the hope that a Weymouth dip would cure his bouts of insanity (alas, it didn’t, but it did put Weymouth on the map as a top tourist destination: go see).
