If your destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park. Just a 20-minute drive from the centre of Bournemouth, half an hour from Poole and 15 minutes from the New Forest National Park, it should make an excellent base to get out and explore from. This is a place that has sparkling clean loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, and well-marked-out pitches – clearly the owners know what guests want. Canine campers are also welcome too. If you want to sizzle your own sausages, saving one for the dog, you can exchange gas cylinders on site. There are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – most welcome if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring. The security gates are locked at night for safety and security; there's overnight parking outside of the security gates if you need it, so check at reception to find out the exact times the gates are opened and closed.

喜欢 Facilitated a later check in and easy access off main road. Seemed to have good access on foot to shops/eating places.

不喜欢 Grass between access road and hardstanding pitch. Imagine in wet weather possibility of wheels getting stuck/spinning. Good quality hardstanding pitch but very snug/small. Our 7.45 m mohome fitted on but you step out onto grass and you can only access your vehicle ie cycles, loo cassette and garage on grass so as it was wet it was a bit messy.

喜欢 Loved our pitch at St.Leonards. It was so handy being able to watch the kids in the park from our tent. Grass was short and no litter on the field. Me and the children would definitely want to camp here again.

喜欢 Good Facilities. Plenty to keep the children occupied with playpark and space to cycle.

不喜欢 Pitches bit close together and cars have to be parked in front of pitch, making getting in/out difficult and restricts socialising with other campers.

喜欢 Shower/toilet block was clean (as much as can be with multiple people, grass and mud). Good washing up facilities. Kids loved the park - lots of different equipment to use. Ice pack freezing very handy although we found the last night it didn't freeze as someone left the lid of the freezer ajar. Nice spacious pitch, when you give your tent dimensions I think this helps to choose a pitch as some were much smaller than ours.
Campsite very easy to find and located close to local Lidl and Sainsbury's. Close to Bournemouth beach and Farmer Palmer's

不喜欢 Location of pitch. Unfortunately we have 3 young children 2,4 and 8 and our pith was right next to a river with short river bank. It was quite stressful making sure the children didn't go near the edge which of course they wanted to. We used the tent sideways and the car to block as much as possible. I'd have thought looking at our booking and the 3 children we'd have been placed a little further away.
The roads around the campsite are very narrow and when it's busy you have to just hope you don't meet an oncoming car.
Campsite not close enough to walk into the new forest but it's a short 10 mins drive to the edge.

St Leonards Farm is one of the closest sites to Bournemouth, with sandy beaches only seven miles away. There’s loads to do nearby if you’re feeling full of beans – try watersports such as windsurfing, sailing or surfing at Bournemouth’s artificial reef, or get busy with some go-karting, dry slope skiing, golf, fishing or horse-riding in the scenic surrounding countryside. Feeling a bit tired after all that sporty exertion? Take a picnic to nearby Moors Valley Country Park, which has a golf course, cycling routes and outdoor play area, or have a family day out at a plethora of local attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Wimborne Minster Model Town. Kids will likely enjoy fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and if they’re disappointed by not finding a T-rex skeleton right there and then, you can take them along to the Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, then spoil them with a day out at Adventure Wonderland less than three miles from the park. The site is also an ideal stopover point for the Poole or Portsmouth cross-channel ferries.
