Join the thousands of sheep that flock to Woolacombe for the annual ovine hairdressing championships, with a trip to the green and pleasant gardens of the Golden Coast Holiday Village. Visitors have access to masses of activities on site, from the pumped up (cycling, tennis, water flumes, four indoor and outdoor swimming pools), to the more leisurely (bowling, fishing, pitch and putt, sauna and solarium). Although there’s no shortage of mod cons, the site retains an old-school charm, not least thanks to its Old Mill Inn, which has been keeping people fed and watered since the seventeenth century. In the evenings, guests can chill out and enjoy the valley views, grab a pint in the sports bar, or enjoy entertainment including game shows, family discos, tribute bands, comedians and illusionists. 'Messy mayhem' is promised at the various kids’ clubs for all age groups, and the little sprouts should have a fine time on the bungee trampoline and climbing wall; parents can confirm that their offspring actually do walk on water as they take to the inflatable human hamster balls in the pool, or show off their board skills on the Wavesurfer artificial surf machine. For a pit stop, try creating a family heirloom over a cuppa at the ceramic-painting café.

喜欢: Beautiful park with lots of amenities which were all of great quality. Really well maintained site. The walk to the beach was fun(!!) and a great location. Overall great value, great location, great services and great customer service - highly recommended

不喜欢: Would have liked the outside pool to be open as I thought opened from May 1st but wasnt an issue. Looked amazing and would have loved to have been outside swimming!

喜欢: It was all lovely clean and tidy, was able to do the activities without any hassle and the staff were very polite.

不喜欢: Football tour....... And this was no reflection on the site, some were just rude and very noisy.

喜欢: Wonderful clean site. Staff very friendly amenities were great, so much for kids to do.

不喜欢: Struggled for food as 2 places were closed for private functions both night which we wasn’t advised about prior to travel so couldn’t get a decent meal. WiFi wasn’t the best.

喜欢: We arrived late but reception staff were still welcoming. Pitch was firm but a little small. Plenty of activities on site for the girls, but I can see this being very busy at high season. Defiantly one to return to but for a longer stay than just a weekend

不喜欢: They close there phone lines early in the day so couldn’t ring to let them know we’d arrive after 8 as they requested in the terms but staff were still there. The showers were probably the worst part of the weekend and they are in desperate need of an upgrade. The men’s shower celling is collapsing and you get dripped on from leaking cold water pipes while trying to have a hot shower

喜欢: Pitched was great and close to all Amenities dog friendly in most areas we visited - bus stop right outside entrance.

不喜欢: Pub linked to site looks like a lovely old pub but has been stripped of the character inside as it caters for the campsite which is a shame. food was ok but catered for numbers not quality not great pub food no atmosphere inside.

Venture out and you’ll find loads to see and do in this part of North Devon. Clamber down the steep cobbledy streets to the fishing boats at the fourteenth-century quay in Clovelly (50 minutes' drive), or pay a visit to Barnstaple Pannier Market (25 minutes) to browse the local foodstuffs, arts and crafts, and antiques. Watermouth Castle (15 minutes) has dungeon labyrinths and a gnome land (anyone who thinks this sounds like the stuff of nightmares will be pacified by the dreamy views…). Nature lovers might enjoy an outing to the wilderness of Exmoor National Park to spot wild deer and ponies, choosing spots like the ruggedly gorgeous Valley of the Rocks (35 minutes) for wild goats and fossil hunting. For other days out, the kids can come face-to-leg with scarily lifelike dinosaurs and go swimming with sea lions at Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park (15 minutes), or just get spaced out by the rides at The Milky Way Adventure Park (45 minutes).
