If you love spending time outside but don’t love compromising on comfort, you should be very happy at Meadowfields Campsite, five minutes’ drive from Dartington in Devon. You can expect smart modern facilities and communal spaces to relax or cook, all surrounded by the hilly South Hams, with easy access to Dartmoor National Park (10 minutes’ drive) and about half an hour by car from the south coast. The communal barn is a welcoming, relaxed and light-flooded space where you can get together, chill and stay dry in any rainy spells. There are board games so you can engage in a little friendly competition, and outdoor sofas and tables for lounging on clement days. No need to bring your own cooking gear either, as the communal kitchen has everything you need for stress-free meal prep; you can also spark up your barbecue if you’re going down the self-catering route. New in 2025, the accessible shower block has plenty of space, extra-roomy showers and cosy underfloor heating to make camping comfortable whatever the weather. There are also washing-up stations for easy clean-ups, and laundry amenities include a washing machine and tumble dryer.

喜欢 We had a great time with our three girls staying at Meadowfields. The customer service was excellent, with the owners showing interest in our visit and offering suggestions for things to do in the area. Stunning places to visit within an hour for most things.
Very relaxed experience. We could choose where to set up our tent. Quite a compact campsite so not far to get to the facilities.
Shower and cleaning area is lovely and new. Plenty of showers and toilets and great recycling facilities.
N.B if camping the ground is very stoney would recommend stronger tent pegs.

喜欢 good facilities, There were plenty of toilets on the campsite. Usually, campsites only have one or two for everyone. Big dish washing space, big activity hall with table tennis and foosball. best campsite I have ever been to.

喜欢 Everything was great. The Bell tent was absolutely wonderful with clean new bedding, lamp and the host even threw in a couple chairs. We were very late to check in and the host still waited for us. Such a lovely man. It is a beautiful as the pictures. The fire pits you can hire are the best. I have never seen those type of adjustable ones. We were there with other families and were all impressed. The children had plently to do in the separate outbuilding playing games so it gave us adult time! Would definitely use again. Highly recommended.

喜欢 Meadow fields is an absolute gem of a place . We stayed in one of the wooden pod’s. The bed & bedding was extremely comfortable, gorgeous hot showers & all impeccably clean . Its very easy to find , yet feels really remote & serene once in the camping meadow . Nick ( the owner ) was so helpful with walk & beach suggestions .Thankyou so much , we sincerely hope to return to this beautiful spot in the Devon countryside.

You can hike a myriad of family-friendly routes like the path along the River Teign from Fingle Bridge (45 minutes’ drive), or have a potter around Lydford Gorge (55 minutes), all the while keeping an eye out for Dartmoor ponies and birds of prey. Ride the scenic Granite Way and Drake’s Trail by bike, go horse riding (15 minutes) across the high moor, and then cool off with a refreshing dip on the River Dart at Sharrah Pool (15 minutes) or Spitchwick Common (20 minutes). On cultural days out, go right back to the beginning of history to see the remains of Bronze Age roundhouses at Grimspound (35 minutes). Other ideas for family trips include touring the manicured grounds at Dartington Hall Gardens (10 minutes), visiting the sensory gardens and stunning abbey with its rich ornamentation at Buckfast (also 10 minutes), or admiring the designs of uber-architect Sir Edwin Lutyens at spectacular Castle Drogo (45 minutes).
