Diving into Dartmoor National Park for cycling-ready trails or hikes in the craggy tors? Elvan Farm Campsite will open the doors nicely, as this wild camping site belongs to a traditional family-run farm in the hills of the national park with some dazzling sunsets, scenery and plenty of space to find a peaceful spot to settle in and unwind. Once you’re all set up, you’ll want to weigh up your options. Will it be a hike up into the hills directly from the site? Wild swimming in Shilley Pool, just five minutes’ walk away? Perhaps a casual stroll into one of the local villages to call into one of the traditional country pubs? Onto one of the cycling trails within 15 minutes' drive of the site? The local village has just the spot, five minutes’ drive away, as there’s a café, pub and shop with the essentials, including fresh fruit and veg. For somewhere a little bigger and buzzier, Okehampton has shops and supermarkets 15 minutes’ drive away where you'll be able to source more specific food items. On site, you're welcome to set up a small firepit or barbecue. In the way of other facilities, you’ll also have access to toilets.

喜欢 Escaped for a one night summer hol to Dartmoor last week and camped at Elvan Farm. Huge peaceful field. Drove down the deep lanes to have a pint and chips at the tiny Northmore Arms pub in Wonson (met some Buddhists and nice dogs). Next day said hello to the horses, read a book, pottered through magical Dartmoor lanes to Chagford for a sparkly swim (thank you to Steve for perfect directions!) and then lunch outside at fab Blacks Deli in the square. Perfect holiday!

喜欢 We didn't stay... on arrival, instructions were to park on right .... the right side of the sloping field was packed there was one space next to the porta loos and a nasty looking dog.

不喜欢 More space for each camper. Why only the right side of the field. Instructions not to follow google maps instructions from the south to get there.

喜欢 Lovely host! We loved the location and having a stroll along the river in the evening. It was really peaceful on site, and not too busy at the end of the summer holidays. It broke up our journey to Cornwall - fab little stopover spot with lots to see in the nearby area.

喜欢 Great location, beautiful surroundings, short walk to Shilley Pool. Surrounded by nature, quiet. Loved that we could buy fresh eggs.

不喜欢 I thought i could cope with the portaloo and shower but I couldnt. The portals stank.
Wasn't very well signposted, we drove past site.
No drinking water or washing up facilities. But bottled water was provided free of charge.

I make an effort to clean the portaloos at least twice a day, unfortunately we rely on others to leave them as they would like to find them, in between.

We have signs by the field gate and I also send a welcome message to those that book, that include what 3 words, along with our address.

We always have a good supply of drinking water that is readily available for guests to help themselves too.

The washing up facility is something that has been suggested and an idea that we shall look into, should be open again next year.
