There’s an absolute stunner of a safari tent at Brackenhill Glamping  just to the south ot Dartmoor: sturdy, wooden, swish, modern and excellently equipped… this is the time to flick through the site pics. And the setting is pretty stunning too. Just outside the village of Ugborough, the safari tent sits in its own lushly green and flowered field of one and a half acres, looking out towards the village, the surrounding valley and the handsome local church nicknamed the cathedral of the South Hams. It’s close to the coast – you can see the sea from here on a clear day – and is a couple of miles from the southern edge of Dartmoor. Tea, sugar, coffee and milk are all provided in the welcome pack, so you can have a cuppa out on the deck on arrival or on your first morning. You’ll likely be out and about after that investigating all the coastal and countryside highlights of this part of Devon… after that, the safari tent makes a hugely comfy base to come back to, with its kingsize bed and bunk beds all made up with crisp linen – as the wise Brackenhill owners point out, ‘we all love a good night’s sleep’… The tent also has an ensuite bathroom with hot shower and flushing toilet; enough space for a travel cot or fold-out bed; a kitchen, and comfortable living room with leather sofas and woodburning stove. A basket of logs is provided free; more are available from the honesty shop if needed. Brackenhill is easily accessible from the A38 under 10 minutes’ drive from Ivybridge. Ugborough is a couple of minutes’ walk along the road and the local pub the same distance in the other direction.
