They say that small is best, and when you arrive at Little Penstraze Certificated Location, you’ll surely agree. This miniscule CAMC member-only site is on a Cornwall smallholding that has only a handful of caravan pitches with gorgeous views all around. Owners John and Sally will also be happy to introduce you to their small (but ever-growing) menagerie of 10 calves, one dog and two peripatetic cats. The historic cathedral city of Truro is but 15 minutes’ drive away, packed with historic streets, indie shops and cosy pubs – it’s also the place to pick up supplies from the major supermarkets. Little Penstraze is also central to both the south and north coasts of Cornwall, with their array of spectacular beaches and dramatic coastlines. If you can tear yourselves away from the peace and quiet on site, walkers can get out on rural footpaths straight from the pitches and cyclists can head for the Bissoe Trail (10 minutes) between Devoran and Portreath. Surfers make a beeline for Newquay’s waves (25 minutes), and you can hire boats for pottering around the Carrick Roads estuary from Mylor Yacht Harbour (also 25 minutes).
