To Cornwall’s north coast for the day, or the south coast? Both are equally easy from Penndra Campsite, in a rural spot 10 minutes’ drive from Redruth – it’s roughly halfway between the two coastlines, so you can drive to either in a matter of 15-20 minutes or so. In fact, this secluded four-acre site just outside the hamlet of Comford is in a most handy position for getting out to all sorts of Cornwall attractions, including Trebah Gardens, Land’s End, the Eden Project, Newquay Zoo and the Minack Theatre. Pretty much anywhere in Cornwall is a day trip away. Wherever you roam by day, later on you can come back to this small family-run site to relax and recharge your batteries ready to head out again the following morning. Dogs, kids and groups are all welcome here, as are barbecues and campfires (in the designated areas only, please). Facilities include a washing-up area, toilets and showers with plenty of hot water, as well as a communal fridge and freezer. If you’re planning a barbecue, pick up bits from the village shops in Lanner or Ponsanooth (five minutes’ drive) or supermarkets in Redruth. Alternatively, head into Comford for a meal and a couple of Cornish ales at the local pub, which welcomes dogs and has a Roskillys ice cream parlour for a sweet treat too.

喜欢 Loved the access to showers without tokens. Toilets were clean and spacious. There were sinks to wash the dishes and many taps to refill drinking water. Owner very welcoming on arrival. Thank you!

喜欢 Everything. Especially clean toilets and showers and incredible silence in the evening. The best campsite in Cornwall!!! Ideal for families with children and people who respect the night's peace!!! After 9 pm it is already incredible quiet there and therefore it is an ideal place to relax, where the next morning you can fully relax and enjoy the beauties of Cornwall. A big thank you goes especially to the owner (Richie), who is always helpful and keeps this campsite clean and tries to ensure that the night's peace is respected, where a person can relax after a day's trip. Once again, a big thank you Richie, for this amazing place!

喜欢 Quiet place, no very crowded, with all the essentials, and a very helpful host. Also, very close to some of best beaches in Cornwall and other attractions like the Eden Project.

喜欢 Absolutely everything, so peaceful, decent sized pitches, the honesty shop was well used by my kids daily for an ice lolly, good location to alot of places and beaches.
Host was really accommodating, toilet facilities really clean and shower we're clean and hot just perfect, we will return 👌

喜欢 If you like loud music and partying until morning, this is not the place you are looking for. That is why we loved it, as quiet hours are strictly enforced, among other things. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax surrounded by greenery, this campsite will be an ideal choice. The area is very clean and well-maintained. Both the toilets and showers are spotless. I recommend this place with a clear conscience. We will certainly return when planning further exploration of these areas. The owner is also very helpful.

喜欢 Highly recommend this campsite! The location in central Cornwall is super convenient for getting around to different sights. Great facilities with huge pitches that have electricity and water right there. Plus, the toilets and showers are super clean, and I noticed Richard frequently cleaning them—he is so hardworking! Richard himself is nice, friendly, and helpful. Will definitely be coming back!

So, to those coastlines… Cornwall’s north and south coasts are both full of gorgeous places to visit, so it’s worth making time for both. On the northern side, start with the beaches at Porthtowan (15 minutes) or Portreath (20 minutes), then head to the stunning sands of Gwithian (25 minutes). The excellent town of St Ives (half an hour) should be on the schedule too, for its mix of coast views and top-notch art galleries. Heading south instead, stop off at Pendennis Castle (20 minutes) and Trebah Garden (20 minutes) en route to the sands at Maenporth beach (15 minutes). Venture a little further and you’ll hit the spectacular Lizard Peninsula with a drive of about 40 minutes or so. For more of Cornwall’s top days out, look at Newquay Zoo (25 minutes), the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (25 minutes), Eden Project (45 minutes) and Land’s End (50 minutes).
