To Cornwall’s north coast for the day, or the south coast? Both are equally easy from Penndra Campsite, in a rural spot 10 minutes’ drive from Redruth – it’s roughly halfway between the two coastlines, so you can drive to either in a matter of 15-20 minutes or so. In fact, this secluded four-acre site just outside the hamlet of Comford is in a most handy position for getting out to all sorts of Cornwall attractions, including Trebah Gardens, Land’s End, the Eden Project, Newquay Zoo and the Minack Theatre. Pretty much anywhere in Cornwall is a day trip away. Wherever you roam by day, later on you can come back to this small family-run site to relax and recharge your batteries ready to head out again the following morning. Dogs, kids and groups are all welcome here, as are barbecues and campfires (in the designated areas only, please). Facilities include a washing-up area, toilets and showers with plenty of hot water, as well as a communal fridge and freezer. If you’re planning a barbecue, pick up bits from the village shops in Lanner or Ponsanooth (five minutes’ drive) or supermarkets in Redruth. Alternatively, head into Comford for a meal and a couple of Cornish ales at the local pub, which welcomes dogs and has a Roskillys ice cream parlour for a sweet treat too.

喜欢 The owner was the most helpful I've ever met. The facilities were spotless. Fridge and freezer were very handy. Loved the swap shop and the useful umbrella we borrowed. The dog walking field was amazing for the pooch. Great location and nice flat pitches. Pitch was also huge! Not many campsites have fresh flowers in the toilets! The wildlife is amazing- we saw swallows, owls, frogs, and all manner of birds.

不喜欢 Nothing at all. Apart from having to come home!

喜欢 Been to many campsite but this one is one of the best. Place are near St.Ives,Torquay and St.Michael's mount and just an hour away drive to Lands End. Campsite is clean and quite. Toilets are proper toilet not compose clean. Shower is what we love and hot water,also for washing up dishes. Lastly friendly owner Richard very welcoming.

喜欢 Everything here is brilliant- from the friendly welcome to the amazing individual showers and toilets, the peaceful surroundings, flat spacious sites. Safety and care for the environment are top priorities. Everything is done in a highly professional way- the site is really clean and well managed and every possible thing has been thought of to make the guests stay really special. Would highly recommend.

喜欢 Been to this site many times, the owner is so helpful and friendly, the campsite is kept really clean along with the facilities
Not over crowded so plenty of room for kids to play while also kept away from the tents

My kid loves the honesty box in reception and it's at such great prices that we don't mind him going

不喜欢 No onsite club or anything if that's what your Into but we are not

Also get some mobile signal but not amazing just worth a note, but I think it's works great getting the kids off there devises

The showers were hot and the facilities kept clean.
Huge pitches which are well marked out.
A great base for exploring both coasts.

喜欢 We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this campsite. It was easy to find, the pitches were spacious, and the site was peaceful with no traffic noise, which made it feel really relaxing.

The individual toilet and shower rooms were a particular highlight. They were well stocked, clean and well maintained, and the shower had great pressure and a good temperature, always a bonus when camping!

The washing-up station was also spacious, clean and tidy. We really liked the little extras too, such as the fridge/freezer, swap shop and charging point. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and was really informative, and it was particularly handy having a bin bag and recycling bag included.

Richie, the owner, was fantastic. He is really friendly, welcoming and a genuinely lovely chap to have a chat with. We also really enjoyed watching the starlings while we were there.

The location was great for us too, as it wasn't far to drive to many of the local tourist attractions, while still feeling peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle.

Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay. The site was clean, well maintained and had some really thoughtful touches that made camping that little bit easier. We'd happily stay again!

喜欢 Excellent experience and perfect for families. Idyllic location and large pitches. Facilities are well looked after and clean with thoughtful touches such as nice hand soap and washing up liquid provided. The mini honesty shop was also very useful. We will definitely return.

Great central location in Cornwall so we could visit different places! We drove to Redruth and caught the train to st Ives!
Everything was clean and organised. Loved the peacefulness and proximity to the local pub. Really felt welcomed and will return.

So, to those coastlines… Cornwall’s north and south coasts are both full of gorgeous places to visit, so it’s worth making time for both. On the northern side, start with the beaches at Porthtowan (15 minutes) or Portreath (20 minutes), then head to the stunning sands of Gwithian (25 minutes). The excellent town of St Ives (half an hour) should be on the schedule too, for its mix of coast views and top-notch art galleries. Heading south instead, stop off at Pendennis Castle (20 minutes) and Trebah Garden (20 minutes) en route to the sands at Maenporth beach (15 minutes). Venture a little further and you’ll hit the spectacular Lizard Peninsula with a drive of about 40 minutes or so. For more of Cornwall’s top days out, look at Newquay Zoo (25 minutes), the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (25 minutes), Eden Project (45 minutes) and Land’s End (50 minutes).
