To Cornwall’s north coast for the day, or the south coast? Both are equally easy from Penndra Campsite, in a rural spot 10 minutes’ drive from Redruth – it’s roughly halfway between the two coastlines, so you can drive to either in a matter of 15-20 minutes or so. In fact, this secluded four-acre site just outside the hamlet of Comford is in a most handy position for getting out to all sorts of Cornwall attractions, including Trebah Gardens, Land’s End, the Eden Project, Newquay Zoo and the Minack Theatre. Pretty much anywhere in Cornwall is a day trip away. Wherever you roam by day, later on you can come back to this small family-run site to relax and recharge your batteries ready to head out again the following morning. Dogs, kids and groups are all welcome here, as are barbecues and campfires (in the designated areas only, please). Facilities include a washing-up area, toilets and showers with plenty of hot water, as well as a communal fridge and freezer. If you’re planning a barbecue, pick up bits from the village shops in Lanner or Ponsanooth (five minutes’ drive) or supermarkets in Redruth. Alternatively, head into Comford for a meal and a couple of Cornish ales at the local pub, which welcomes dogs and has a Roskillys ice cream parlour for a sweet treat too.

喜欢 Such a peaceful campsite, felt away from the world. Facilities were very clean and we never had to queue to use them. Everyone respected the recommended winding down times so we had brilliant sleep. Definitely coming back again.

不喜欢 There were a lot of wasps pestering us but everything else was perfect.

喜欢 Lovely quiet camp site in a picturesque setting with great showers and toilets.
On top of this Richard provided us with a spare tent & helped put it up, as ours had been badly ripped by some gusts of wind, threatening to disrupt our holiday on the 1st night, which we were able to use for the duration.

喜欢 Facilities are everything you need done do a great standard. One of the best showers both me and my partner have use. The tuck shop with very reasonably priced food was appreciated (20p for an ice lolli).

The park itself was gorgeous especially if you love nature. The swallows were magnificent to watch. Also the owner is super friendly and helpful. We will be returning & bringing others along next time.

喜欢 Very friendly, with plenty of info on arrival. Richard was very enthusiastic about what he was doing which showed in the thoughtful details on site. Sensitive to the environment. Super peaceful and great facilities.

喜欢 Absolutely fantastic campsite. Richie is an amazing host, really friendly and informative.
Campsite is quiet, well maintained, excellent very clean facilities (toilets / shower & washing up station) great size pitches. Lovely addition with the honesty ‘box’ for essentials. Also a shed with additional bits & bits you can borrow like clothes airer / kettle / pots & pans. All in all 10/10!

喜欢 “A lovely small campsite set in a picturesque location. Warm water, spotless toilets and showers, freshly cut grass, and a very friendly owner who is well‑organised and provides a helpful information pack about the campsite in the form of leaflets. A peaceful, well‑kept place that’s perfect for a relaxing stay — we will definitely coming back.

喜欢 Big sized pitch, very peaceful and well maintained. Good facilities, clean and stocked. Also the little touches, like a painted check bird on a flat stone with little pieces of stone to play. Good WiFi as well.

So, to those coastlines… Cornwall’s north and south coasts are both full of gorgeous places to visit, so it’s worth making time for both. On the northern side, start with the beaches at Porthtowan (15 minutes) or Portreath (20 minutes), then head to the stunning sands of Gwithian (25 minutes). The excellent town of St Ives (half an hour) should be on the schedule too, for its mix of coast views and top-notch art galleries. Heading south instead, stop off at Pendennis Castle (20 minutes) and Trebah Garden (20 minutes) en route to the sands at Maenporth beach (15 minutes). Venture a little further and you’ll hit the spectacular Lizard Peninsula with a drive of about 40 minutes or so. For more of Cornwall’s top days out, look at Newquay Zoo (25 minutes), the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (25 minutes), Eden Project (45 minutes) and Land’s End (50 minutes).
