Craving a bit of splendid simplicity for your Cornwall break? Well, that’s what you’ll get at Mys Hedra Farm, a small site on an old dairy farm at the western end of the county, about 10 minutes’ drive from Lands End. The scenery around here is simply stunning, so the site owners have pretty much left it to speak for itself, installing just the essential facilities to help guests have a comfortable experience. A toilet and shower are housed in the old stable block, with additional toilets brought in as needed for busier times. Campfires are permitted to help you keep warm of an evening (pick up supplies for this and your picnics at the village shop or farm shop five minutes’ drive away in St Buryan or at the supermarkets of Penzance, 10 minutes away). Pitches are spread across two small fields surrounded by hedges and with sheep and Guernsey cows as your neighbours in the next-door fields. You may well also catch the sound of the nearby donkeys – they’re particularly vocal when they’re ready for their breakfast or dinner. Getting out to explore may involve heading out onto local footpaths, which run to Carn Euny Ancient Village and Boscawen-un Stone Circle among other places. Jaunts further afield aren’t too hard though, as the site is just off the A30 – that means it’s a quick 10-minute drive to Sennen Cove or 15 minutes to Marazion for St Michael’s Mount.

喜欢 We had the field to ourselves as was end of season. I’d say this comes as close to wild camping as you can get with the added luxury of a hot shower and toilet.

James was lovely so helpful had the pleasure of him joining us for a drink on the last night at the pub was a great way to end the trip although the morning of leaving unfortunately my car had battery trouble and James was kind enough to help jumpstart it for me with his fork lift tracker.. funny story to be able to tell now
