It’s all about location at Kitsham Camping, a Cornish pop-up campsite 15 minutes by car from Bude, and close to Widemouth Bay for surfing consistent waves or Black Rock Beach (both 10 minutes’ drive) for anyone looking to walk their dogs on the sand. Long-distance walkers can also hop on the South West Coast Path at either beach. This peaceful site on a working farm is also handy for a bundle of family-friendly attractions – from adventure parks to petting farms and ten-pin bowling alleys – ensuring you should have no complaints about being bored from the kids. The pitches are nicely spread out over three acres on a gently sloping grass field with far-reaching views across the valley. For some R&R, book in with the in-house massage therapist. No-frills facilities include a brick-built shower block with copious amounts of hot water at the edge of the camping field, and a separate washing-up area. Should you get caught in the rain (always a possibility in Cornwall), the use of a washing machine and dryer are available on request. Pick up local Cornish produce in the community-run village shop in Marhamchurch (10 minutes, there’s a pub there too), and if you’re in need of a larger resupply of provisions, Bude supermarkets will have most things you need.

喜欢 Could be a perfect little gem.
Really convenient location.
Beautifully quiet.
Loads of space.
Good facilities for number of pitches.
Comedy sheep (especially when they managed to find their way into the camping field and the farm lads had to round them up!)
Grass trimmed to a nice short length.

不喜欢 I don’t think there was a daily check of the facilities. They still stayed ok because sit was so quiet and because we did the topping up of loo rolls, but basics like bin emptying needed more attention.

喜欢 Lovely place, showers, toilets, washing station in place, would come again:) price very good, close to beautiful beaches, highly recommend. Stayed as mum with 2 teenage girls, we were all very happy:)

不喜欢 Shover/ toilet block could be cleaned as we were there 2 nights and even bins were not emptied but as we all cleaned after themselves it was ok
Didn’t see any farm animals only could hear sometimes clucking chickens but it was very cute, hey, it’s a farm😉

喜欢 Good location, short drive to the coast, Lovely open field, nice, clean shower, toilet and washing facilities, campsite/farm owner was friendly and amenable.

不喜欢 Wind turbine in next door field made very loud clunking noises whenever it stopped or started up (which was often multiple times through the night)- was pretty disturbing to sleep

喜欢 We loved the peace, remoteness, space and simplicity of this site. Myself and teenagers had space to be, yet within touch of a friendly couple aka, our hosts! Bought delicious eggs from the farm, had clean spaces for washing dishes and clothes and the bathrooms were clean and available with hot water for 24 hours a day.

Surfers can head down to Widemouth Bay (10 minutes’ drive) to get their thrill, or join the crowds on Newquay beaches (an hour). If your kids are not keen on swimming in the sea, try the tidal pool at Bude (15 minutes); you can also play golf or tennis nearby, and participate in extreme sports including coasteering and abseiling on the cliffs. Toddlers will surely love getting up close to cuddly farm animals at The BIG Sheep (45 minutes), or setting off on gentle bike rides through the trees at Tamar Trails Centre (50 minutes). Kids of all ages can find something to amuse them among the rollercoasters, gravity rides and dodgem cars at Milky Way Adventure Park (35 minutes), and you can all scare yourselves silly on guided ghost walks around the Bodmin Jail Attraction (45 minutes). Pretty fishing villages with buzzing harbours and traditional old pubs abound in this corner of Cornwall; head for Port Isaac (35 minutes) to browse indie shops and spot locations made famous by the TV series ‘Dr Martin’, or have a potter around the Court Gardens at gorgeous Clovelly (40 minutes); with its roots in medieval times, it’s one of the few privately owned villages in the UK.
